2011 vs 2010 FX35 (worth the 5K difference?)

My dealers have both in stock at pretty good price. However, the 2010 is significantly cheaper (5K).

I've been trying to look to see the upgrade/differences between the two models but weren't able to find a detail list. (beside the mention of the Power lift gate - Is it a base feature?)

Can someone help me out? I just want to make sure if it's worth it.
Thanks.

AFAIK there are no significant changes to the base models other than the power lift gate. The only person who can decide whether it's worth it is you...many people in this forum do not believe the added weight is worth the added convenience. Personally, I obviously don't have one BUT my wife's Murano does, and she thinks it's an absolute necessity. If your hands are full it's nice to just press the button and have the lift gate rise for you...at the expense of several seconds of wasted time waiting for the lift gate to open and close. I've honestly never tried to swing open or close the gate by hand, so I don't even know if it's possible. You may think that "several" wasted seconds is trivial but it does become an annoyance after a while.

As far as comparing the two models, you have to make sure you're comparing apples to apples. There are several expensive options available on the FX... if both models are similarly equipped, I'd take the 2010 and grind the dealer on price. As far as trying to figure out which options are on each vehicle....well, you're kidding, right? There isn't a window sticker on each vehicle that explicitly lists the options? If not, then you should expect the dealer to explain the option details and advantages (and cost) of each. Make him earn his commission. Once you have all that figured out, then you can make an informed decision.

But like I said, if they're similarly equipped take the 2010, make sure you know what all the incentives are (I recall reading that Infiniti is offering some pretty good cash-back incentives on 2010 models right now), and then grind him on price. You should be able to do much better than the 5K he's offering.

Well, I'm pretty much speaking apples to apple. The 2010 is always 5K lesser than the offer price of the 2011 with both are below invoices.

I'm getting 13K off MSRP for 2010 and 8K off for the 2011.

I don't mind forking out 5K addition if the 2011 has better features beside just the power lift gate. Does the packages have any differences or they're pretty much similar?

Thanks again.

You need to verify for yourself that each of the two cars they've quoted for you has the features you want. Nobody can tell you exactly which features each car has unless you provide VINs. Even then, there are dealer add-ons, etc. At this price point, go spend a few hours at the dealership with a pad of paper and a pencil and do your homework.

Assuming both cars are equipped with the packages you want, there shouldn't be any reason to choose the '11 over the '10. I don't think the power liftgate is even available yet, but again, verify this for yourself. If it were me I'd save $5k and get the '10.

Make sure the 2011 has the power lift gate as some of the early 2011's didn't receive the feature.
The power lift gate doesn't matter to me but the Mrs. has AR and can't close the lift gate so having a power lift gate will be a deal breaker later this year when we buy our new car.

man, be glad you're in a position to have such a terrible dilema... :D as everyone has stated both vehicles are generally the same minus the year & power lift gate...either decision you're getting an exceptional vehicle...spend the extra $5000 on a vacation or or invest it or just save it...if the power lift gate is SOOO important then go with the '11 if not then go with the '10...decisions, decisions, decisions...life sure is good... :D

Oh well, went and check out, there's no 2010 left in GA with the color & options I wanted.

And you are correct, the 2011.5 are the ones that'll come with the power lift gate - booooooooo. So no go on the current 2011 in stock.

Anyways, ended up with a 2011 moonlight white + Premium + roof rails + splash guard for 42303 OTD. Sticker price was 47755 + Misc fees and tax.

Played with the finance guy around a bit and end up with a 2.15% APR for 60 months. They can't do the 1.9% promotion because it's either that OR the incentives, can't have both.

Car has 11 miles on it. Taking delivery this Friday.

Saleman was cool + offer minor deal perks.

So I guess I came out alright, not too shaby.
