Hey Everybody...!!

Got a notice from a couple of friends of mine today concerning the new release from Infiniti for the European Market.

As you probably all know Infiniti is Entering the European market this year and as i read this story in a short story of the web form a dutch automagazine they introduced this car at the Geneva carconvention.

The story tells about the electric hybride motor ( Same as the Lexus RX400H ) they are planning to use.
Don't know if the "55" notes a 5.5 liter motor, that i cannot find out at this time.

Seams that for the European market they are going for a bit different designs though.
What do you a'll think.....??

Cheers,

Ray.

lets try to use the new murano pics to compare it to this potential new fx...
Good point- I don't think its a PS- 3 views in natural backgrounds is just too much effort for a random PS, plus the similarities with the MO... I'm hoping it's not the new version. Rookie's direction seems the way to go for "sport" (wider, lower, cleaner), but Infiniti went the opposite way- taller (it looks), narrow, messy ass lines. More of an "RX" direction, rather than a "Sport" direction. Hoping not...

Photoshop.

Look at the dark line on the first photo and it's missing on the 3rd photo. It looks like tape.
Also look at the feature below the window. It really stands out on the left (looks 3/8" deep) and it's not there on the right.
Same on the right side of the license plate. Feature there is missing on the left.
And it's friggin UUUUGLY. Every other new Infiniti after the FX is gorgeous.
i think your just lookin at the reflections. I put the images in photoshop and zoomed in everywhere unable to find any mistakes
emcgrath is correct. Even just look at the headlights in picture 1. There's a line where the headlight was double cut and pasted... hard to explain... look at the bottom W shape of the headlight... right in the middle... take a close look there... also, the license plate is obviously stuck on with photoshop... the lines around the edge are unnatural.

Also, look at picture 3 where the side lines and the rear hatch meet. It is way off and the lines don't quite meet up on the hatch area. Althought they were able to Photoshop it, you would not be able to make these lines on a 3D car's body and make it work.

Good Photoshop but not real. We don't need to make such a big fuss about it. And honestly, for the new FX they will not reuse any body panels from our FX. Not even 1. Common sense rules out in this case.

Here is what my though process has been since I first saw these pictures:

First few seconds: "Wow, that's pretty cool. And at least it doesn't look as f*cked up as it could have been."

Next few minutes: "Uh, the front end looks like a BMW, the back end looks like the EX or a Santa Fe. Ugly."

10-15 minutes later: "Hmm, it does look different. And I have to admit, I didn't like the look of the FX back in 2003. But it grew on me over time and now I love the look. Perhaps if this is the new FX, it will grow on me as well."

Now, several hours later: I think it might be a photoshop. The lower part of the front bumper/fog lights is the same as current, the curvature of the hood is the same, the headlight on the right has a line through it, the license plate doesn't look right, the side mirrors are the same as current, the lower portion of the sides (black trim over the wheel wells and the chrome trim on the bottom of the doors) is the same as current, the A/B/C/D pillars look the same as current, the rear hatch looks too much like an EX, the reflection on the rear quarter panel underneath the tail lamp goes from shiny to matte finish (doesn't match), and...........last but not least, look at the strip of chome above the rear license plate. It doesn't look right. And aren't these wheels from a BMW??

We're spoiled guys n gals. take a step back, look at your FX, look at what else is on offer, and then look at this "FX55".....

......it is still light years ahead of the rest!

You can either follow others and come second, or go first and create a path........
That's right.

They keep saying the new FX is going to have third row seats. There is no way that car above can have third row seats.
. . . . except the "they" is everyone but Infiniti.

I am surprised by the number of negative comments. Yeah, the headlights scream Chris Bangle but overall, it isn't that different from the current FX.
I agree.

. . . The more I look at it, the more I actually like it. Come 2010-2011, I will certainly look at it.

Like I said before:

. . . . I kind of like the sculpture on the sides. I think the trunk/hatch lid is too deeply sculpted, but as with everything else on cars that people say they don't like, they eventually become accustomed to seeing it the new way.
The changes on the FX in these photos certainly mirror changes in the Murano.

Oy. I highly doubt this is the work of photoshop. There's black tape on the car to throw you off and help disguise.

What exactly makes you think that body panels will not be similar? The redesigned M has a lot of similarities to the older version. I disagree with you that the body panels are the same anyway. They look pretty different to me.

the more i study this, i notice a lot more things. first if this is the redesign its not a very comprehensive one, they just tacked on new front and rear clips. this could tell us that they may have been running a mule with those new front and rear sections, so maybe they will blend with the rest of the new body, mentioning of the 08 M, well that was a mid cycle refeshing, like the FX got a few years ago so that also leads to just testing new clips, at any rate March cannot come soon enough.

They wouldn't be running mules with different body panels this close to release. By this time, if they had any test mules out there it would be for realworld aerodynamics (what they can't simulate in a wind tunnel... ie. crosswinds, changing wind conditions, etc.) so the mule would be running with proper body panels.

And doodle, the black tape was also photoshop'ed in to throw you off... make it look like a spy photo... and jmerc said it all about the M. This is supposed to be the all new FX. Not a refresher that we already had in 06. All body panels will be different.

There is good and bad news with those pics. The good news is that if these are real, then the interior of this thing must be spectacular as barely any real time was spent on the exterior. Another good news is that there is no way this thing sports a third row seat! The bad news is that this was not supposed to be an MMC but rather a Full redesign from the top down. This effort is somewhat lazy (at least on the exterior).

I have a hunch it will be different enough but not so much that current FX owners won't accept the look. Personally, I hope it does not look drastically different. Most likely the interior will see a major upgrade.
And I'm looking forward to having new gadgets. :) My husband's G37 has cooler stuff than my FX so I need to upgrade!

All i can tell you a'll about the photoshop question is that this is one of the most respected automagazines who placed this item so i myself thinks it's not fake, because they only place serious news.

My friends where i got the news from told me last weekend that it was sort of a prototype shot on camera as you often see when the carpapperazi find some new model. Maybe this explains the tape though

The hybride is really something the want to try here i think, we see it more often. And even when you guys in the US now already pay much more for gas the you used to its still much cheaper. I pay 1,50 Euro per liter. That's almost 2 dollars....!!
But please don't get me wrong because i'm happy to pay it driving such an incredibel car :D
I'm not into the diesel and electric as well, but hey it's getting a bit crowdy here ;-)

Try keep you up-to-date when i hear more...!!

Without a doubt this is a certified photochop. Look at the contour on the side where it meets the headlights, the shadow just stops. The shadows on the back are all jacked up too, not that great of a job when you look closely. Looks good at first though.

Whatever, even if it is photoshopped I love this look! It's extremely sleek in design and looks very sporty without being so small that it looks like these new, ugly, crossover SUVs. I wish the tails were clear though.

I don't know about photochops and all of that because frankly, photoshopping isn't my thing. However, what makes me a little suspicious of this photo is the fact that Nissan/Infiniti are usually extremely good at keeping their new products from spy photographers. The first spy shot of the G37 came very close to the New York Auto Show (were it was unveiled) and it was wrapped up in heavy black tape from front to rear. So, it seems very un-Infiniti like to leave their new baby just sitting with no disguise whatsoever. I'm not saying it isn't possible, it just doesn't seem right. Also, why weren't any pictures of the interior taken even if it was covered (much like the GT-R was before its debut)?

Looked carefully at the pictures... it's a Photoshop.

One easy way you can tell (without looking too hard) is the very first picture. Look at the lower bumper. It's the exact same as ours. When Infiniti redesigns the new FX, even if they make it "evolutionary" instead of "revolutionary", it will still not share any body panels as our FX. Lines will be slightly modified to fit the newer design. Take a look at the old and new G's. Although they are also evolutionary, there is no similar sheet metal between the 2 (sedan or coupe).
I Agree this is a total photoshop - to much of the existing FX is in these images. A redesign will not share any of the parts from the current FX.

Few things that give it away - the side window arc is exactly the same as the current FX, fenders including the black plastic fender liner and the lower door cladding w/ chrome strip, doors, door jams, roof line and roof rack, front bumper/fender line all look like they are from the current FX.

Take the second pic and cover up the headlights and grill and your looking at the current FX. No way would Infiniti allow that of whats suppose to be a total redesign.

Is it just me, or does this not make any sense to anyone else?

Since the pictures have the AutoWeek watermark, I decided to do a little search on their US site (I mean, if these are authentic pictures, they should be on the US AutoWeek website somewhere.......right?). I looked everywhere, even under the "Spy Photo Gallery", and I found...........................nothing.

Fakes. Bad ones at that.

Steve, I looked and didn't find anything either. Several sites have the same pics posted here with the auto week watermark--except autoweek.com! Even if these pics are fakes, I still stand by my previous statements.

In view of the fact that all this is just hearsay, any observer can easily see the .org members are very fastidious, anal rhetoricians. :D :D :D
