Before final removal from the engine (cut off and save the circled piece this will connect the tube with the stillen) the accordian piece. It is an easier way to make the two (stilen and z-tube) attach.

Final pic of the stillen with power duct cover attached.
Almost forgot, decided to dremel (cut out) the frontside of the stillen box to widen the opening because the power duct has a larger opening on the backside. Be careful when cut out, use marker to double check, dry fit, then cut far away from the car. Plastic debrie will be everywhere. No joking.

Now you can see that the accordian piece fits nicely between the two. The best way to make them fit, is to stuff the cut ends of the accordian piece inside the z-tube and the other end into the stilen box and then attach with adjustable hose claps at each end.

Final pic with all back together. :D

I have read and can believe 5-7 RWHP for a ztube on a g35 alone. Add to that a true K&N filter that comes with the stillen air box it just help the engine breath better.
We live in the mountains at 7000+ ft. I can only imagine the gains you could see in a RWD at near sea level.
Already saving up for the Plenum 8)

Oh yeah, i paid:
stillen $245
ztube $75
Smile on my face...
Priceless
not including shipping

Sweet Fx,

i am getting ready to do a Z-tube install and i am considering just cutting my stock accordian piece for the extender. looking at these pics, i looks like you cut off the "short" accordian part (with the 2 accordians instead of 4) , but i cannot tell how you connected that end to the Z-tube.

did you "tuck" the cut end INTO the z-tube, or did you push the Z-tube end "into" the cut accordian piece?

i would assume that you "tucked" it in, and if so, was it hard to push it into the z-tube, or did you put some small "cuts" into the old accordian piece that run parallell to the pipe to ease the insert?

thanks

brad

What is all the boxey stuff on the FX tube that is not on teh Z tube. Don't we need it for something??

What's the total cost of a Z tube job, without the Stillen stuff?

What will the Z tube alone do to intake sound?

Thanks, Bob

resonators.....

designed to (greatly) reduce intake growl and noises (wanted by many, but assumedly not by infiniti clientle).....

it only serves purpose to quiet things down, at the price of HP (claimed)

i have found several used Z-tubes, ranging from 40-65 a piece.....

SweetFX: when you attached the MAS to the Hi-Flow box and air box...using the four M6 bolts... did you removed the clips? because the bolts seems short
I had the same problem and just bought longer bolts and new washers at Home Depot M6x20mm.

I dont recall the clips but it was a B*tch to get those four bolts for the air box started then I was ok. Mstgofstr has the right solution longer bolts.
Yeah, I remember the four holes on the stillen box needed to be enlarged a couple mil using a utility knife. no biggie
Im gonna look now for clips.

You mean the clips for the power duct?

the M6-40 bolt that came with the stillen cai.... where did you guys use it? i cant find where to use that bolt....
That bolt is to secure the bottom of the heat sheild to the bulkhead below, but is not used on the FX b/c the box sits higher than it does in the G35. It is not essential and makes removal for cleaning a lot easier anyway.
