My daughter called me today and is looking at a 04 Galant. Does anyone have any thought about Mitsubishi?

Thanks.

Other than they are going out of business since Chrysler dumped them a few days ago, I wouldn't touch this manufacturer. They've had more than their share of recalls also.
valvetrain inconsistencies.....

unless VERY maintained, they will be smokers inside of four years...

interior F&F is above average, and their leather is VG (not sure in this model however)

i am sure the new gen mitsu's are far better than those of the mid-late 90's of which i am comparing....

have a look at JD Power and CR for ture reports...
Forget that Mitsu crap. Buy her an Acura TSX. Very sexy looking car which girls absolutely love. It retails for under $27K. Comes with kick-arse sound system, stability control, leather, xenons, garage opener, sunroof and does 500 highway miles on a tank of gas. . For another $2K you can add a NAV system with voice command. Unlike other Honda engines this one has a timing chain. Tune-ups won't be needed for 110K miles. Service intervals are at every 10K miles. Nor is it a rocket ship. So she won't be tempted to play a speed demon, or anyhting. Mitsu products have been getting more pathetic with each passing year. I also heard that amongst imports they now enjoy the worst depreciation this side of Kia.

I dunno; my GF had a late-90s Galant that she drove for 120K mi with little incident before she gave it to her daughter. She also bought the other daughter a Mitsu Eclipse that's been running since forever, too.
There are deffinitely better choices for your money. The new gen. mitsus are simply FUGLY, anyway.
dont get a mitsu now...wait 4 or 5 years until they file for bankrupt and then "resurrect" like nissan.

i drove in a co-workers galant rental the other day. it had 100 miles on it.

- it smelled nice and new
- is was big inside
- materials were so-so and build quality was less than average
- there were rubber gaskets on the inside of the doors around the egdes that you could peel back while in the back seat and basically get you fingers up under the headliner and tear it down ;)

- all in all its better than other mitsu's that i have seen in the past but i would go with a nissan altima or something along those lines
I guess it depends on what your looking for. I want a Mitsu Lancer EVO 8, but that's because it handles better than a Vette (as well as a 911) for $28k

I don't really have any comment about the Galant. The only Mitsu I would own right now is the EVO

Yeah I want the EVO too. I am waiting for the MR...
As am I :)

currently, I'm trying to sell my '94 Talon to fund my new bike, and then the plan was to pick up an EVO. The thought of buying one before the MR comes out seems silly, so I'm gonna wait for now!!

But if they go out of business then that'll suck :(

It's a great car

I recently drove my friend's new Galant and it blows away my wife's 2004 Accord. My friend with a Jetta also drove the Galant and he couldn't believe it either. They supposedly have great deals on them.
Is this the EVO you guys are talking about? Is it Mitsu's version of the WRX STi?

there was a guy at the drag strip yesterday with an EVO, but i didnt get to see him race since he was just enough in front of me that i was blocked in the staging lanes from seeing his runs
Thanks for the info.

I had some reservation about the status of the Mitsubishi. My daughter is also looking at a 04 Maxma. Even though the Mitsubishi would be cheeper I the the Nissan would be a better fit for her.

Thanks again for your info.
Bang for the buck, get the Altima not the Maxima. All the hipper kids drive Altima and the seniors citizens are driving the Max.

In black they are sweet. 8)
I already tried that. She did not like the Altima. This will be her first car that she pay's for, and I am just giving advice.
