Excuse the dirty pictures, it rained yesterday!

I got my Nismo exhaust installed over the weekend minus the Y-pipe. I bought it off another FXer. I had the Nismo tips replaced with tips I bought off a 350Zer due to unforeseen circumstances. Plus with a new law in Boston that doesn't allow for the installation of any aftermarket performance exhaust, stealth is ok by me.

Anyways the Nismo sounds great! It changes the stock exhaust to a deeper and louder tone, which is what I wanted.

Tips are the same as our stock ones just shorter.

Thanks Es. Wish I had your Fujitsubo tips tho! Those are hot!

Anyways I received the exhaust with the original tips but they were dented and scratched up due to shipping. UPS wouldn't make any refunds to the sender because they felt that it was due to the packaging and not due to their mishandling.

IssaFX (who I bought it from) was really patient with the whole situation, and we managed to work something out. I was bummed at first but not anymore. He sold me the midpipe and muffler since he was keeping the y-pipe to use himself, which is ok with me because with all the O2 sensor and cat problems I've had previously I don't want to touch anything that has to do with the cats in fear of the dealer not warrantying them in the future!

The Nismo exhaust tips are oval in shape and when I had installed the exhaust the tips hadn't been changed yet and I felt that the oval tips just didn't seem to go well with the FX. I had an exhaust shop weld off the Nismo tips and they did a superb job getting the stock 350Z ones on straight. The new tips stick out about a half inch to an inch more than the stock tips do and it really does look nice this way! I'm much happier now with the rounder tips :D

The Fujitsubo is the same exhaust as the Nismo if I'm not wrong. Just much nicer tips and I also hear that they're built better, quality wise. I saw your pics and it sure does look sweet! :)

nice recovery job andrew.....

id never know that you grafted the tips,m had you not told me....

i think fuji makes the nismo, but the y pipe (at least) is somewhat different (has a cross balance tube b/w the sides)....

BTW, how's the sound of the system compared to stock?? same characteristics, but louder?? or totally transformed???

as for O² issues, the Y pipe doesnt have any sensors in it at all, so you could still make a change there if you ever feel the need...

The exhaust shop I went to really did do a terrific job with the fabrication and welding. I was amazed when I saw my car after it came down from the lift!

I'd say it's not entirely transformed. You still can get a hint of what the stock exhaust sounds like but instead of the higher whiny-ish tone it's much much deeper. It's quite a bit louder too! I'll try to post a sound clip if I can.

Regarding the Y-Pipe, there are several coming out. Kinetix has one coming out. I'm not in any rush to change that though. Maybe I will in the future. I'm happy with my car right now and have satisfied my mod-apetite for now.

That just sounds WICKED!!! I would love to do the same for my ride. Is the setup really loud? I love the sound but want a conservative volume. Whaddya think?

The exhaust isn't loud at idle at all. At idle you won't notice it's there. The exhaust is pretty loud around 3000 rpm when the engine is under load (accelerating, going uphill.) It's not too loud for me, but it's definitely quite a bit louder than stock at that rpm. Above 3500-4000 rpm my Nismo kind of fades out and the growl from my Popcharger replaces it! I LOVE IT!

I don't have the Nismo Y-Pipe so it may sound different if the entire system is installed.
