The M45 concept points the way towards the next-generation large saloon from Nissan's luxury division, Infiniti, due for launch next year. Influenced by the Fuga concept car shown in Tokyo last autumn, it is curvier than previous Infiniti saloons, and more European-looking - it could be the car to launch the Infiniti brand this side of the Atlantic, and promoted as an alternative to the likes of the E-Class, A6 and 5-Series. The M45 range is likely to include Nissan's 3.5 V6 and a series of other six - and eight-cylinder engines; the show car is fitted with a 450bhp version of the 4.5 V8 used in the current M45 and the Q45. It also features adjustable self-levelling rear suspension and a keyless ignition with push-button. Also new from Nissan was the revised Xterra 4x4, based on the huge Titan pick-up's platform, though the Yanks still call this a 'midsize'. Coming with 2WD or 4WD powertrains, it has increased cabin space and a new 4.0-litre, 250bhp engine, and it retains a traditional body-on-frame off-roader structure.
