Vanity Mirrors . .

2531 Views 11 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  bradical
I have had my FX for 6mths now and I never looked in the vanity mirrors. But I got something in my eye the other day and what the **** are these. Mine are horribly wavy. I had to use my rearview mirror to look into my eye.

I really have never had any kinda of gripe with this car but come on, mirror plastic. I need to figure out how to fix this.

Yeah, my dates say the same thing. Ah well ...!

(I bet they're flawless in the RX-series!)
LOL
Sweet...you're not the only one. I recall reading about this in FA...ah, found it...here
Yup, these are referred to as "funhouse mirrors". I think they all have it to some extent (the edges are the most noticable), but some are worse than others. My driver's side was pretty bad, so my dealer replaced it no questions asked.
I complained about the funhouse mirrors to my dealer, who ordered 2 new ones to replace them. When they came in, they were even worse - upon checking several FXen on their lot, they were all that way. After the XM fiasco I didn't have any fight left in me, so I never pursued it any further - it only bothers my wife
i hear that if you go fast enough, you experience time dialation and length contraction and the mirrors flatten out 8) ....i knew that old physics stuff would come in handy one day
True, but I think you also start getting infinitely large.
You can ask your dealership to replace the visor with one that has a real mirror in it under warranty (provided you gripe loud enough). I can understand the "safety factor" involved, but can't help but feel that it was more of a cost reduction effort than anything else. Why bother on a vehicle with 37K plus price point?? Pretty crappy if you ask me...

This is a known fact, the hard part is you have to be going *sideways*.

thats why you pull the visors off from the front and put them by the windows so you are going sideways with respect to them...well, you arent, but anyone else on the side of the road will think they look flat :D
