Does anyone have the 1600? I was wondering if I need to have the cross rails for this.

Anyone? There is a thread with a pic where it looks like guy doesn't have cross bars. Although some people there are saying that you need cross bars.

I personally do not have the box but you do need crossbars, OEM or aftermkt. Supposedly, the box fits perfectly on top of the factory bars. You would probably want to put something in between the crossbars and the box to prevent the box from scratching the painted bars (such as a strip of foam padding).
