Dear Walter:

I hope you can help me here. The other day I set off for work leaving my
husband in the house watching the TV as usual.

I hadn't gone more than a mile down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt. I walked back home to get my husband's help. When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes. He was in the bedroom with a neighbor lady making mad passionate love to her.

I am 32, my husband is 34 and we have been married for twelve years. When I confronted him, he broke down and admitted that he'd been having an affair for the past six months.

I told him to stop or I would leave him. He was let go from his job six months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless. I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant. I don't feel I can get through to him anymore.

Can you please help?

Sincerely,

Puzzled in Poughkeepsie

Dear Puzzled:

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine. Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line. If it is clear, check the jubilee clips holding the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold. If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low fuel delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber or fuel injection system.

I hope this helps.

I thought this would be an appropriate follow-up:

Dear Technical Support:

Last year I upgraded from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 and noticed that the new program began unexpected child processing that took up a lot of space and valuable resources. No mention of this phenomenon was included in the product brochure. In addition, Wife 1.0 installs itself into all other programs and launches during system initialization, where it monitors all other system activity.

Applications such as Poker Night 10.3, Drunken Boys Night 2.5 and Saturday Football 5.0 no longer run, crashing the system whenever selected. I cannot seem to keep Wife 1.0 in the background while attempting to run some of my other favorite applications.

I am thinking about going back to Girlfriend 7.0, but uninstall does not work on this program.

Can you help me, please? Otherwise, I?m toast.

Thanks,

Joe>>>

Dear Joe Toast:

This is a very common complaint, but it is mostly due to a primary misconception. Many people upgrade from Girlfriend 7.0 to Wife 1.0 with the idea that Wife 1.0 is a Utilities & Enhancement package, when in fact, Wife 1.0 is an OPERATING SYSTEM designed by its creator to run everything. It is unlikely you would be able to purge Wife 1.0 and still convert back to Girlfriend 7.0. Hidden, archived, read-only operating files within your system would cause Girlfriend 7.0 to emulate Wife 1.0 so nothing would be gained.

At this time, it is impossible to uninstall, delete or purge the program files from the system once installed. You cannot go back to Girlfriend 7.0 because Wife 1.0 does not have backward compatibility and was specifically designed to disallow this. Some have tried to install Girlfriend 8.0 or Wife 2.0 but end up with more problems than with the original system.

Look in your manual under ?Wamings: Alimony/Child Support. I recommend you keep Wife 1.0 and just deal with the situation. Having Wife 1.0 installed myself, I might also suggest you read the entire section regarding General Partnership Faults (GPFs). You must assume all responsibility for faults and problems that might occur, regardless of their cause. The best course of action will be to enter the command C:\apologize. In any case avoid excessive use of the "Esc" key because ultimately you will have to give the "apologize" command before the operating system will return to normal. The system will run smoothly as long as you take the blame for all the GPFs.

Wife 1.0 has the potential to be a good program, but it requires very high maintenance. Consider buying additional software to improve the performance of Wife 1.0. I recommend Flowers 2.1 and Chocolates 5.0.

Do not under any circumstances try to install Secretary With Short Skirt 3.3 or any version of Executive Assistant. These are not supported applications for Wife 1.0 and are likely to cause irreversible damage to the hardware and operating system.

Best of luck.
