I think this is out of Sport Z Magazine (I got it off of My350Z):

Exhaust Shootout notes:

They used two cars (2% Hp difference).
Car 1 Baseline = 233.2 Hp - 222.6 ft/lbs torque
Car 2 Baseline = 237.5 Hp - 224.0 ft/lbs torque (stronger engine - lighter wheels)

All manufacturer's systems Hp and torque numbers were lower than advertised. Not a surprise.

Borla (car 2) = 8.2 Hp - 2.7 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
A top end system. Little HP increase until the 5600 rpm to 6500 rpm range. Lost HP & torque below 1800 rpm. 60mm (error actually 58mm). Weighs 52lbs. 1 million mile warranty. Installation - Hard (17 pieces)

5Zigen (car 2) = (-3.4) Hp - .02 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
Lost Hp, no real torque gain. Most expensive. Loudest. 58mm pipe. Lightest @ 25lbs. 1 year Warranty. Installation - Medium

Stillen (car 1) = 8.1 Hp - 7.3 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
Hp and torque increase starting at 3000 rpm to redline. Lost a little HP & torque below 1800 rpm. 60mm pipe. 74lbs - 10lbs heavier than the stock system. Lifetime Limited Warranty. Installation - Easy

Injen (car 1) = 7.6 Hp - 5.1 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
Small torque loss at 2800 rpm. Torque gain starts at 3300 rpm. Small Hp increase starts at 3300 rpm, max Hp from 5800 rpm to redline. Major loss in Hp and torque below 2200 rpm. 49lbs.
1 year Warranty. Installation – Easy

Nismo (car 1) = 6.3 Hp - 4.5 ft/lbs torque (peak values)
Torque increase starting at 3000 rpm. HP increase 4800 rpm to redline. No power losses below 1800 rpm. 54lbs. 3 years, 36K miles id installed by Nissan dealer. Installation - Easy
Given this info., I think I'd put the NISMO at the top of my list. Good power AND torque, and doesn't give up anything at the bottom end (big plus). I also like the way it sounds the best (personal preference). You can hear sound clips of these exhausts and more here:

Interesting on the NISMO product...and it knocks 10lbs. of weight off your vehicle too! It would have been good for them to post MSRPs for those so folks could get an idea of bang-for-the-buck.

NISMO can be had ~900-1000
Borla can be had under 800
I think the Stillen is ~1200.

Others I'm not sure about...

Best bang for the buck goes to Borla. Nismo and Borla are the only exhausts I've really considerd since they seem to be the quietest system around.

great info (again)

now, these are VQ stats....

its VERY possible that the VK motor will respond MUCH differently to the exhausts than the VQ....

i am all ears on a full (header?) system for the VK...ctas removed also....

disclaimer/
(no need for em here, as i dont drive on public roads)
/disclaimer

i REALLY wish'd the boys at paddock would've replied to me , as i got on my soapbox on FOUR sites, recommending them. Now not even a return call, or pm, or email, etc.... that sucks -- i will be purchasing a true dual system elsewhere, and unloading my padd. setup in the very near future...

sorry for the rant; i feel better now

Ahem, ok... back on topic. Thiese prices are from Intense Motorsports: http://www.i-m-racing.com/exhaustheaders.html You can see all of these exhausts and more, plus high flow cats and headers there. You may be able to find cheaper prices elsewhere, but this should give everyone an idea for comparison.

Borla: List $845.99, IM price $719.00
-stainless steel (not sure if 100%), true dual

5Ziegen: list $1082.00, IM price $925.00
-stainless steel, dual layout to single dual outlet muffler (wierd)

Stillen: list $1275.00, IM price $1150.00
-stainless steel, true dual

Injen: list $1075.00, IM price $880.00
-stainless steel, true dual (very loud)

Nismo: list $1800.00, IM price $995
-stainless steel, stock design (not dual)

You can read more about each of these systems on IM's site. Remember, all of these exhausts are made for the 350Z, so woul require some modification to fit the FX (extend mid pipe 8" and extend the tips, possible more).

Basically... that is what we're assuming.

I am also waiting for the GReddy EVO true dual to come out. I like what I see... I need to hear it and see it's dyno results.

Yes, even for the VK. I was looking at the service manual last night... they look identical past the exhaust manifold.

Stillen's products seem so overpriced!

Also, I think paddock is a rip off. They charge 700 for a axle back exhaust? They use a magnaflow muffler with tips. I mean, any descent muffler shop can fabricate that. Also, the intakes are way way overpriced for a short bent piece of aluminum with welds showing. Pretty lame if you ask me.

Considering they're the only ppl who offered an intake for the FX45 (no competition), they could charge whatever the **** they wanted to....

indeed

i do feel the intake works well, but i did have to make several changes to it to get the desired fitment i wanted...

do most muffler shops offer mandrel bent pipes?? and, can they get the tips to align exactly as well??

im not standing up for paddock here, im just asking...

i really hadd hopes of having the true dual installed b-4 march....

im pretty sure ima stay with one brand, in the future (like prodrive, etc)

A good muffler shop can do all those things. Some do do manderl bends but you need to ask around. Ligning up the tips is all about how careful and detailed the installer is. Muffler shops can also make 2.5" piping for our cars if you wanted them to. The place I use to go to for my accord couple and TL-s use to hook me up. I had custom pipes for both those cars. If you don't care about how the pipes look...ie non polished stainless steel then I'd say go that route.

good to know

thanks

also, as stated above, i want to try to keep brand specific , if possible for the fx..... (originally, i thought that was paddock...)
