spoke to doug in detail this morning........

wound up ordering the v5 plenum from him afterwards....

Q- he said to install the NEW gasket ONTOP of the old one (double gskets)... since they're metal, i am guessing this will be okay??

Q-what torque are you guys then using for the double gasket bolts???

should have it within 3 weeks, (hoping sooner really, but they are behind bigtime)

wish'd he offer it in wrinkle black (got it n reg. silver instead)

-eS

ps- anyone wanna sell/loan theirs to me early, and i will replace it w/ mine when it arrives??

didnt think so......

Sure, you can borrow mine. It's just a G-tec pro though, not the fancy one.

Is there more room under the hood of the FX (than the Z or G) so that the Crawford plenum could be a little larger (taller)? If so, would Doug make a special FX version? For some reason I'm under the impression that a little more interior volume in the plenum would help. Anyway, I think I know the answers but thought I'd ask anyway since it's a slow day here.

sure has been slow. Thee IS much more room under the hood of the FX than the Z or G (hense the Stillen supercharger fitting with no hood mods). However, I seriously doubt Doug is interested in attempting a larger, FX specific plenum; there's a lot more to it (to see that it actually does what it's supposed to do, which there may be no improvement at all) than welding on a bigger piece of metal. He's strictly a Z guy (we just got lucky) and there isn't nearly enough demand to justify it.

Sold my Kinetix V3. I think I'm gonna give Doug a call. :)

2 reasons I sold the Kinetix is because of the loud noise ppl described and ofcourse the crap load of cracked plenums....

MGFR, how's the sound w/ your Crawford?

The Crawford sounds very good. Very little added noise and I hear the v5 is even quieter.

It fits, but bulges a little in the middle and leaves a bit of a gap around the oil filler neck. The bulge isn't noticable and the filler gap can be filled by using a black piece of 3" PVC pipe trimmed to fit. See pic #24 here: http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4289113377
This is before I put in the PVC piece.

I see, so the white area in the pic is the filler gap?
Yup.

Hmm, I wonder if that's because of the ridges on the v5? Mine doesn't look as refined, but it sin't as bulky, either.

Anyway, If I had a v5, I'd want to show it off. I'd likely mod a 350Z cover to go with it; I don't like the asymetrical look of the Infiniti cover when it is cut to fit.

Hey, if anyone wants to stay low key with the Crawford and use the stock cover, then, I'll be happy to trade mine (and a bit of cash) for a black powdercoated v5. I like the look of the bare plenum, personally.

Sure you don't want to trade me?
