Well, I backed my FX into a ditch yesterday. :(

First the details, the ditch was 40” deep and about 15’ wide with about 45 degree sides. I ended up with my back left tire at the bottom the ditch. My right back tire was still on the driveway at ground level. My left front tire was on the ground at edge of the ditch. My right front was 18” OFF THE GROUND and my back bumper was almost touching the back slope of the ditch. My FX was sitting at about 45 Degrees both left to right and front to back. .

Now the good news. I took a deep breath put the FX back in reverse and just drove out of this ditch. The only thing that I have found so far was the front air dam under the FX got scratched and my muffler has a small dent the size of small soap bar. I also had to dig a dirt plug about 6” long out of my left tail pipe. :D

All I can say the FX will fair much better off road that the naysayers are reporting. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not planning to repeat this anytime soon.

Glad it worked out ok.

Wouldn't have happened if you had the Tech package...

Well, I don't know. The rear view camera didn't help Kenny with his post encounter. Also just seeing dirt and grass from my rear view camera may have made the encounter with the ditch mutch more tramatic.

I just got in a hurry and was trying to get out of the way of an on-comming car. The thing that I could not get over was how well it pulled it self out of the ditch. I have had several 4x4 trucks and I know that at least one of them (with the long wheel base) would have bottomed out on the side of the ditch.

Yabbut I was moving forward, the RVC wasn't even activated. Even if it had been, the impact was on the side of the car, well outside of RVC range anyway.

Kenny, I thought you were backing out when you had you encounter with the post. Sorry.

Yikes! Glad you're okay and your FX is relatively unscathed.

One question...What was your first thought before you took the deep breath and backed out of the situation? Was it for your own safety or that of your FX?

The backup camera almost did me in today!!!

I was parallel parking and backing towards a disconnected semi trailer, casually monitoring my progress in the rearview camera, when I decided to check the mirror. I stopped immediately when I noticed the trailer was only inches from my rear windshield. It was only about one inch from the windshield once the vehicle came to a stop. This is what I said to myself: "H---o---l---y...S---h---!---t................................. The rearview camera was shooting straight under the trailer. I'll be checking much more than the video screen from now on.

Well, um, yeah! The RVC's field of vision is limited to just under the window, and I guess that's on purpose- but I hear ya, and I'm still craning my neck like that chick in "The Exorcist" every time I have to back up, too.
