I was a Pepe Porsche/Infiniti and they were telling me that the FX35 and the Cayenne were equal in performance but that the FX45 blows it out of the water by a large margin.

He said that many Porsche Cayenne buyers opt for the FX45 once they see/feel the difference.

That sounds about right to me... Keep in mind that you will not "blow the Cayenne out of the water by a large margin" with the FX45 but you will definitively be faster.
Watch out for the Cayenne Turbo though...

you know, i used to base too much on the 0-60 times of a car, but that is only a small portion of the equation. you can have 2 cars that have the same 0-60, but much different 50-80 times (i.e.. passing accel), and the such. if you look at some of these, you can tell that they pull away more after 60 (i.e.. 1/4 mile times).

This is very helpful. Cayenne S do not want to race or CRX's but this SUV was faster in some other tests. X3 may be a marketing error, as fasst as a 4.4?
Bradical ...good point,on the street, more happens from a roll than stop light...30-80 it has to work!

I dunno about X3 either . BTW, the new 4.8L 6AT X5 will outrun FX45 @ 0-60 in 6 sec flat and 14.5 @ 96 1/4 mile.
Right but the 4.8L X5 is approx. $20K more than FX45. Cayenne Turbo is about $50K more than FX45 and only about a second faster 0-60.
Bottom line, nothing comes even close to the FX (performance, value, and looks) :D

i let the fiance take the FX to work yesterday ,as i usually drive her accord when i need to go downtown or to the metro garage, and i have to say that the FX looks and sound slick when she was backing out of the garge. kinds like a race car or something. i dont usually get to see my fx (or any fx) up close being driven, so i followed her part of the way and admired my own car :D

Keep smiling bradical,I will enjoy your surprise.

On the 4.8,the only quick times for that was with a prototype 7 speed not the 6sp it comes with...those are 14.5 times and that does not scare me!!

I was at the dealership yesterday correcting a couple of qlitches from the 30K service and a lowered Berrilium drives in...nice to see it catching on

The Armada is faster then an FX35?
At one of the HFXA meets, my SA stopped by with a QX56, so I had to give it a couple of runs. The data is here somewhere, but it WAS a tad quicker than our AWD '35 at the meet. AWD '35 and Cayenne S are very close, but RWD will beat it easy.

Whenever I see a Cay S I'll somke 'em, but if I see a Turbo emblem on the back, no way. I'd rather see them staring at my FX!

So the FX35 & Cayenne S are pretty much dead even huh? Hmmm...I would like to try...So I guess just regular Cayenne isn't so fast.

As descriptive as you were, are you sure it was your FX you were admiring? ...and what is this you have "planned?"
