when i first put "Cruise" on, it automatically defaults to giving me ICC, then if i hold the cruise button for a couple of seconds it puts me in reg. cruise. Is there a way to make it default to reg. cruise first? / I don't like ICC, it just allows an idiot to come over into the left lane and never realize that i'm really moving faster than they are - because icc slows me down (forced braking) , Reg. cruise puts me in their mirror and lets them know "get the heck outta my **** way!" - I just want to avoid having to press the cruise button for 2 sec. to get to reg. cruise first.

If you want to get on someones tail while the ICC is on, all you have to do is override it by putting your foot on the gas. You're gonna need you're feet ready with or without ICC, so there's no need to switch to manual.

i don't want my own car slowing me down because the guy who just got into my lane is content going slower than i was going so now i'm forced to go his speed or override by depressing pedal. Normal cruise , he gets in lane , sees me coming in mirror, he gets out, great!, no override needed. ICC sucks!

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I was simply trying to point out that if you're using manual cruise, you're going to put your foot on either the gas or the brake anyway when the guy moves in front of you, so using the override seems to make no difference to me. I only wish it allowed for a closer following distances because it's useless for me in northern VA unless I'm out on a long distance trip...but then again, so is manual cruise. I almost forgot to mention...around here, the majority of folks won't get out of your way.

you just DON'T get it! When i am in reg. cruise and he gets in my lane, because my car doesn't brake , he sees me in the mirror and proceeds to move back over. that why i want to hit the cruise button once and have it default to reg. cruise first instead of ICC - that is all this post is about. please go back and proceed to READ the orig. ???? thank you very much. / anyone else care to ans. the orig ????????????????????

i have never heard of a way to default to normal cruise in my travels on FA and infinitiFX.org.

not sure where you live where people actually look in the rear view mirror when you're riding up their ass, but you need to tell em about it

Im excited that I now know how to disable the ICC. Even at the shortest distance, it became annoying sometimes to the point that I did not use it as much as I would like to use it.

Thanks for the tip on how to do it. Not sure on swapping the order. Seems like some kind of relay could be used to basically "remember" the last way it was used and just toggle back and forth.

you know, i must be one of the few people who really like the ICC. i am travelling from chantilly to bethesda every day right now and i usually set it when i get on the toll road and cruise all the way out to 495, and up 495 to 270 with it on. never touch the gas or brake. if people cut in front of me, oh well....i have learned that i must save my anger and stress for those at work and not use it all up on the way to work :D

bradical,

I agree with you. I was excited about getting the option. But It does annoy me more than not. Maybe I have just not had the situation where the ICC fit my need yet. I always seem to be around traffic that interferes.

Does yours ever engage when you approach and a car is in the lane next to you? LIke if they sweve a little, but not in your lane. Mine does often, and even on the shortest distance it is way out.

I know, safety.

mine will pick up cars in the lane next to me once in a while, but it is rare. i think that the unit is attached in a way that has some variance in how its pointing between each car....basically its a bit of a crap shoot as to whether you get one that works good or not.

beleive me, i have sat there and re-engineered how i would have this thing working, namely the two biggest things i feel need to be done:

1. the unit is right side biased and needs to be center mounted. i dont care how they turn it in to the center, the fact that its on the right makes is biased to pick up objects in the right lane....and it does....

2. the unit needs to turn slighly with the wheels as you go thru turns so that it is always poitning at the objects in your lane and not the side lanes....this of couse also needs to be sensitive to the distance you set ;)

with all of that in mind, i think that ICC is useful when you are in the right circumstances to make it useful. basically, you cant be in a hurry and you cant really use it on twisty roads, etc.

the biggest thing that i have noticed is that if you set your desired cruise speed to be close to the average speed of the traffic you are in, it works great, but if you set it at 85 MPH and everyone else is going 60, you're in for a herky jerky ride and a lot of near collisions as people move in front of you and away.

in the end, i decided that i'd rather have the OPTION of using it and have to override it if i want regular style cruise, then not have ICC at all :)
