show me what the fx looks like with a tow hitch???? is the oem model (assuming there is one) a class ii or????
I do not have a picture handy yet but we are going to have an OEM hitch installed on our FX45. It is rated as a Class II, however it's my understanding that it was developed as a Class III but downgraded because of the FXs towing capacity. It will be used to tow our motorcycles!! The hitch itself is somewhere around $500(ish) with a couple hundred to have it installed at the dealer.

Thanks. Here is a pic of toy pulling toy.
Heading up to Northern Minnesota in the morning to find some snow and hit the trails. If you need a speed rush, the Rev is so fast to 60 and then the bigger sleds pass it. It keeps pulling to about 100.

Not sure but from the pics I've seen, the answer would lean towards no.

I have the OEM hitch on mine and I just ran outside and took a look.

It appears they did trim some plastic to install the hitch. The area trimmed is on the inner edge of the plastic bumper where it wraps under the rear. It's a farily large area that has been cut out (notched is more like it) - although you would never see it unless you are 3" tall and really looking hard for it. The hitch covers it up anyway. I can post a pic tonight if anyone's curious.

Thanks for the update. I have been shopping around quotes and a few of the shops mentioned that some cutting would be envolved. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't another way and that this is the way to do it. I didn't want someone hacking up my car. I am worried if I sold the car and someone took off the hitch would you notice the part that was cut out? Pics would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

If you removed the hitch it would still be hard to see the trimmed area - but make no mistake, you would see it if you looked closely. The "notch" is around 8" wide and maybe 3" deep. I'm guessing they are just letting you know what's involved so that you don't blow your top when you find out. It would only take about a minute to trim it so it's not a labor/cost issue.

I'll measure and post pics tonight.

I wonder if a template comes with the hitch if you just buy it from the dealer. I was going to have them install it, but the longer we have it (the car) the less I want others touching it :)

I was trying to be different with this one, but I just hate others working on *my* car
