That is a great price!
Not really, price would be great if they came in at $300.
Well...shiet....lets pay them what it is really worth. How about $150?
My point is that if you look at all the plenums on the market, they are all priced the same, Crawford (once the core charge is refunded), Kinetix, APS (potentially), all about $395. They'd probably sell a **** of a lot more if they dropped the price under everyone else. Question is what is their objective? To sell the exact same number of product as the competition?

R&D is most likely not as high as most people think. It's a sunk cost and isn't factored into ROI anyway. I doubt manufacturing costs are that high either once you have a working model. My guess is that out the door, their cost is 1/3 - 1/2 your number.

That's a lot of gravy and if their margins are that big, once it makes it through the channel, why not get it out there aggressively? Pushes the brand in addition to outselling everyone else on the market, not a bad idea for the long-term. Not to mention it helps them recover from some of the perception issues out there and is the best way to go after established competitors.

With crawford you have to exchange your old plenum to get that price but with APS and Kinetixs you would not have to. Kinetics is having a discount right now especially if you order the cats at the same time.

Well hopefully APS will be out in February. I can handle waiting a few more weeks. Looks sweet, let's hope the dyno numbers hold true.

Also, I read somewhere that Crawford is coming out with a machined/cast plenum. Way cheap, no core charge.

APS perception issues.. they have had too many delays, then did the redesign a short while back so they could include additional injector knockouts for forced air induction setups. Shame they did the redesign because other than extreme hp freaks, I don't know too many people that go out and buy more than one aftermarket plenum. So they lost a lot of business to Crawford and Kinetix.

After all the problems I've read, wouldn't touch a Kinetix plenum if you gave me one.

If someone is hot for a plenum now, someone is selling a Crawford v5 on G35Driver.com for $498, no core exchange required.

Thanks for the link Shady. Supposedly, the Tall-Boy is going to be significantly taller than the other plenums on the market. Not sure how much that will help in non-forced air applications, but I want to see the dynos before I buy a plenum.

Grubbs did say that they know the plenum will be available in early Feb. They aren't carrying them, couldn't get an explanation as to why. Will post if I can find out.

Crawford Cast Plenum comment (rumor at this point) 4-6 weeks away, $350, Post #9

**Edit - Just got a conflicting report from SPG today (original poster's link). They said 1 month delay to March for APS. Not sure who to believe, Grubbs or SPG.

At this point, if Crawford comes out with their cast plenum, I know where my money is going, assuming the APS delay is true. APS has just made a comedy of errors during the development of their product, multiple delays, and took time off in the middle of a critical part of the development cycle to boot. Tough to wait for and buy a product from a company that doesn't seem to posses the ability to get a product out the door.

Rant over.

Yep, just spoke with Doug, Cast plenum coming by March (maybe end of Feb.) - watch his site for details, no more cores http://www.crawfordz.com/index.htm
Hope he gets it out before APS, sooner the better. LOL he'd have gotten 2 products out the door before they pushed anything out. It'd serve them right, sitting on their asses overengineering things.

Bye, Bye APS  Hello CrawfordZ > http://www.freewebs.com/crawfordz/[/quote:3vn4q4mj]

Is it just me or is something up? Why isn't he using the normal email address and site?

Agree on APS, they've just missed the boat. Problem with engineering driven organizations is they never get the product out the door because they keep adding features and overengineer the product. Classic case in point.

Ordered a Crawford cast plenum. Talked to Doug. Cast plenum is a quiet as stock, same if not slightly more HP. Nice that he's willing to talk to customers/potential customers. Whereas all we've seen is pictures of the same plenum and no info from APS.

If you did, You made A Great Choice for $350. (the original tried & true - and now BEST ever) ...or did you get a spacer for $200 from a new guy on the scene? :? http://www.infinitifx.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3358
