Looking to clean the acrylic headlight lens covers on my new (to me) girl. Anyone have ideas how best way to return the front lens covers to original sheen? Is the foggy-look just in the outside, or must I clean inside cover?

For a quick fix I actually just used toothpaste and it did a decent job.

Using toothpaste, polish or compound will clear it up, but the oxidation will return unless you properly seal it. I recently went through this on my mom's 1st gen (used MG Compound/Polish), and sealed the headlights using CG's Jet Seal. We'll see how long it remains clear.

For anyone viewing this thread that owns a first gen FX make sure that you check to see if your headlight (and tailight) recall was ever performed. I knew about the recall but also knew that the replacement headlights were really not noticeably different than the originals. So I waited until my old headlights were just starting to show some aging and took the car to get them replaced free of charge. Now I have brand new headlight housings. Also got the airbag recall done which I probably shouldn't have waited for.

I just ran my VIN # and I have 3 outstanding recalls still open from 2006. Will Infiniti service still correct these on a 13 yr old vehicle? Will they give me a loaner? They are the headlight , taillight and Child safety seat recalls. Did not see anything about airbags and I thought that would be one for sure....

I thought that the 06 was recalled for the airbags as well. Bring it in for the other items and ask them about it.

Any recall item will be repaired free of charge and they should be giving you a loaner for the day. It will take a few hours. I got a QX50 for a loaner. Not really that impressed but it was nice on the inside. Quicker, but didn't feel as sporty. I really missed seeing the wheel humps through the windshield.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but can they refuse to service your recalls if you have mods? Can I bring it to any infiniti dealer?

I suppose it depends on the mods that you have done. If it's the headlights they are going to pull your modded headlights and replace them with new so you will lose your mods but I don't think they would refuse the claim. I would bring it to the dealer and ask.

If it's the airbag recall, I can't see a way that they could refuse the recall unless you removed the airbags yourself and wanted new ones.

You won't have a problem. I have an intake and a couple of other little mods and got the headlight/tailight and airbag recalls done last year. New lights on a 13 year old vehicle.

What is the headlight recall? We've owned our 06 FX for 11 years, and only recalls we've had done are airbag and dash. At the time of these they did not mention a headlight recall.
And of course, mine look horrible....

Infiniti recalled the headlights and tailights on 03 to 06 FX's. The headlight recall was ITB-06-026a and the rear combination lamps was ITB-06-027. There were some 06 FX's that had their lights changed out at the dealership prior to sale but any Infiniti dealership should be able to confirm if yours has been done or not.
