Get off the '405S at Pico/Overland. AVG MPG: 14.1. Take Sawtelle to Pico, Pico E to Sepulveda S. At National, see a Mini; hey- he's trying to work past all these slow drivers, too! Once we're clear, an invisible someone dropped an invisible green flag, and we're off, I'm doing manual-mode upshifts at redline (**** rev-limiter!) - hey- them Minis are faster than I'd thought (I guess weighing 95lbs will do that to ya). Get to my left to make it into my parking garage, no more than a mile along from the start of the ... "acceleration experiment", and the AVG MPG has dropped to 13.8!

I'd love to see my MPG hit the 14 range someday... I'm busy trying to keep it above 13. Too much city driving and paying the price.

I'm assuming that the MPG is calculated from the last time it was reset, so it will vary quite a bit just after being reset but is affected less at time goes on since it is dealing with all of the accumulated mileage calculations. Anyone know if that is true?

BTW, I'm well into middle age and didn't have a problem with anything you said...

Far as I know, it's true- so I always reset at every fillup.

The FX's MPG calculator is pretty crude. A couple aggressive launches will trigger it to start showing below average economy all the way to the next fill-up. It seems not to matter whether afterwards you've been driving like grandma Gretchen. I have one of those NAV/organizer/calculator/toaster combos in a '04 Acura I purchased one month before the Pumpkin, and its MPG counter rocks. It offers an auto reset option-which I engaged-and is far more snappy. You take the vehicle on a highway and after 5-6 miles the MPG readout changes as fuel economy climbs. I ain't seeing that in the FX :( .

Nah, I think it's fairly accurate; I've seen it go from a low of 12.9 in all-city driving to a high of 16.9 on ICC-regulated highway. I just think that high-RPM runs drink a lot more than we realize.

I think it went down a little. I think it use to be 19.8.

My driving is around town (less than 4 miles at a time) and I go to albuqurque on saturday ( 200 miles round trip and 30 miles or so driving around.

My life is the same week after week. :?

FYI: Today I drove over the San Mateo Bridge and took note of my rpm and average mpg. This particular bridge spans the east bay and for many miles it is perfectly flat. I set the cruise on 70 and observed 2600 rpm and about 21 mpg. On the way back I measured 2550 rpm and almost 29 mpg. It was very windy and obviously the tailwind really helps.

BEST MPG YET!!!

Coming back from Mohegan Sun filled up at the Mobil station reset my odometer back to 0. hit the computer set that back to ** an took off. kept speed at 80MPH and used the cruise when ever I could. Few bursts to pass some cars & trucks up to 90. Checked the computer it said 20.5 mpg..Thats the best I've seen. Theres over 18k on the car and Mobil 1 is being used. Also just installed Crawford Plenum. Thats it. Now remember this is completly hwy.

i average 22.5 mpg one time over a 140 mile stretch, but i kept my speed to around 60-65 mph. it seems once you go over speed that then the mpg gets worse. thats been my experience

Can anyone tell me tha average MPG city/road for the 2004 FX35 ?

Thanks
I am getting only 16 around town (Orlando) and about 18-19 on the highway. Was hoping for better than that. :x
I'm averaging 13.6 for a 2003 FX45, whether city or highway.. and even after resets this seems to be the number it returns to.. ;(
Yep,

Me too. I do have a heavy right foot though.
