I am getting ready to purchase the Porter Cable 7424 and not sure what products to buy.

My biggest problem is the oxidation of water spots and a few fine scratches on the hood.

I dont want to go too abrasive but don't want my soon- to- be effort to go to waste.

If anyone is using a PC please let me know what products are you using.

Thanks in advance

I always had good results with the 3M foam egg crate polishing pads and glazing compounds when I worked on Cobra's. You can find them at any auto body supply. Always worked great, especially on dark colors. Just have to be careful not to burn the paint when using a power buffer (with any polishing system).

I've had really good results using the Menzerna polishes (followed by Zymol glazes) on medium to dark finishes. I bought all my pads, backing plates, polishes, etc from http://www.properautocare.com/porcabpolac.html and they were great to deal with.

Make sure to get some of the microfiber bonnets to go over the lambswool pads, they're great for buffing to a final gleam.

Try Coastaltools for Online. Best palce to get one right now is Lowes, you can use a 10% off coupon there as well to get it for even less.

Megs Pads are available at any Autobody supply shop or order a kit online. Detailcity or Autopia have good forums that can steer you right to what you need

If you plan on using it a lot, try the DeWalt DW443.
It is a heavy duty machine, faster, stronger and does not bog down like the PC.
I only have one left and it is marked down to $129.99 (cost).

IMO, it is the best polisher out there. It is the unit I reach for when detailing my cars..., and I do have several (Makita, Porter Cable, DeWalt, Craftsman)
