Gas mileage and intake mods

OK, this might sound wierd but for those with the Crawford plenum with or without other intake mods, have you noticed any improvement in gas mileage? And I mean "when" you keep your foot out of it.
I'm trying to get some fodder to reinforce the "need for the crawford and intake mods" to the wife. I may or may not need it but having some backup ammo never hurts. :D
Also for those who have gotten grounding kits recently, do you know if the transmission wire was standard in the kit or was it a special request.

Thanks,

Mike

Intake mods: After the ECM adjusted (and my heavy foot), I DID notice an increase of about 1.5mpg.

On the ground kit: depends on which kit you get. You'll need a 7 wire kit to get the tranny wire. I recommend http://www.z-xtreme.com Just e-mail him and request the seven wire kit. Lengths are the same for the FX as G35 and 350Z.
have picked up 1.8 mpg on my last fill, after my '"intake mod"

interestingly enough........

Yea, and can we revisit this AFTER you get your break-in mileage esemes.
I don't know about you but I would have a difficult time driving "normal" with that engine under my hood. It would be WAY too much fun.

Also, thanks BTW for the replies. I was hoping for more MPG with the mods. More fodder to support the mods. :D

any more out there see any improvements?
LOL, I really want to do these mods but my wife didn't buy the gas mileage argument. She pointed out that even a 2 mpg savings with the mods it would take something like 5 years to pay for itself (which still seems good to me, but...). Anyway, I'm sticking with the "enjoyment aspect" argument and trying to slowly erode her resistance. 8)

Heh, just let her start finding sports car brochures lying around the house. She'll change her tune real quick.

LOL :D

my car was just dialed in (over the past two days) and has optimum fueling now...

tomorrow i get her back, w/ dynos.........

just to further the reply, i had the oil changed at 900, and finished the break-in well before that.....

more later!

On all my cars, I usually modify somehow, the intake. And in the end it seems that I get better gas milage in most (depending how the original was). In the van I use to have the intake was horrible and as soon as it was cut out of there got 2 more miles per gallon.

IMO I think it helps :D

Tried that for months... Didn't work. :(
Well, just do what I do, then: order now, ask forgiveness later (or better yet get it installed without her ever knowing about it. :D

Good ideas, but since she does the accounting, I'd prefer a method where I can stay married! I wonder if can start embezzling my own income and putting it in a secret account... Truthfully, I have too many hobbies that I don't have time for, so she just rolls her eyes when I mention car mods. Still, I enjoy the vicarious relationship I have with all of you and learning what can be done.

Hmmm.... Anyone know how to open a Swiss account? :D

She pretty much drew the line on my spending habits after I pulled that on her with the BMW and spending a very big chunk of change on home audio. Evil little woman I tell ya!

 My God, man! What's the matter with you?! I'm surprised your not driving around a used Civic, while she adds an addition onto the house for her shoes. I don't think I could ever be in a relationship where I didn't handle the money; got to hold on to what little manhood you got left after marrige.

Simple answer: she's smarter than me.
LOL
ujmot, my wife does the accounting too but I have been able to pull a $20 out of the accounts here and there. She only really keeps one in check. The other, she comments that it never balances out and accepts that because it isn't off by much. The third account, she sees I take money out but never really says anything about it. SO, I keep a stash of mad money. BUT, I am not totally selfish. I buy her stuff once in a while too. (helps justify it in her mind, I hope) It takes a LONG time but if you are diligent, it adds up.

MGFR, this is part of my plan. I am hoping to get the plenum on community money and install either the Stillen or JWT and the z tube as the install without her knowing part. This way I don't cut too deeply into my own stash. Depending on how I do that would be the ideal one for me. Unfortunately, it may go the other way. Use a friends CC for the plenum and do the rest on community money.
Yea, It's sneaky. I know.
Well, my answer to the financial issues was to set up three bank accounts...hers, mine, and ours. We each have our pay deposited into our personal (hers & mine) accounts, and transfer a fixed & equal amount into the Ours acct. for bills/expenses each month. I don't have access to hers, and she doesn't have access to mine, so neither of us knows what the other has, and each of us is free to spend those funds as we please. I know this wouldn't work for everyone, but it works for us. :)
I guess I can start packing lunches to work instead of spending $10 on a salad and a bottle of water everyday.... in about 3yrs, I can save enough to buy a Stillen Supercharger (uninstalled). :-x
