My computer is accurate and almost the same as the old way of dividing total miles driven by actual gallons to fill up. However, in driving from NE Ohio to Chicago, I am using the Ohio and Indiana Turnpikes most of the way and they are both dead flat. I drive around 70 mph (once in awhile 75) as do not want any speeding tickets. Traffic is fairly light except around Gary, IN and when entering the Chicago outskirts. I have never driven anywhere else on a trip as yet, so have no other trips to compare. When I drove to Pittsburgh to have the clear bra installed, mileage was around 18, although car had under 1000 miles at the time. I average only about 5000 miles a year on the FX, as keep it for special driving!
My local driving (we live in a rural area of NE Ohio), which is also fairly flat, normally gives me very close to 16.8 mpg (never less than 15.0 - 16.0. I use 93 octane religiously and as the engine broke in, the mileage increased. (Previous to break-in, it was not good). Most of my driving has been in the summer, as I do not like to drive the FX45 in bad weather, saving it for better days. On bad days and in the snow, I drive my PT Cruiser. Not that the FX45 isn't good in bad weather, it is such a nice car that I like to keep it that way. So far, not one scratch or door nick (I have a clear bra) and no problems with the seat controls or bubbling or any other issue, other than the hatch issue when new, which wasn't really a problem, but was taken care of at my first oil change by the dealer.
As to traffic in our area - on the way to work, my big traffic jam is if someone is in front of me at one of two stop signs between my home and work, or if I miss the one red light near work. Total trip is about 4.5 miles each way and the roads are patrolled, so no speeding. After work, (I work late), traffic is very light, so I would say that my driving habits are not the same as most on this forum.
I guess I am lucky. Every time I drive the FX I like it more and more. I put a coat of Meguiar's NXT wax on it - awsome! It would make me happy if Infiniti improved the ride just a little, but the handling makes it worth it. My only concern will be in a couple of years when I find out about Infiniti's trade-in value.
