Think of a 6X9".... adequate? maybe.. a lot? **** no. It's adequate for say a pop or rap music where most bass is around 120-100hz.

I'm not sure how low they can actually get on frequency, but my guess is they are limited to ~50hz and cant even push 50hz much at all. The drivers are so small (2 - 5.25" radials) that they can't possibly push low frequencies well.

I have to agree above. It is not too bad for stock systems, but it is typical bose. No highs and No lows.....It must be Bose!!!!!!!

EQ would help the system.

I had a 2003 FX for 8 months, now I have 04. My 04 sounds great! Maybe even better than the 2003 FX35. Perhaps the cheap speakers are not quite as cheap, or it could be that the rattles which plagued my 2003 detracted from the stereo sound. Or, it could be the XM radio that my 04 has (but i use CDs too). I heard "Get Low" and "Milkshake" over XM radio and was amazed at the stereo's quality.

I am not saying that the stereo cannot be improved, but I just can't believe how many people actually feel the need to complain about it. I agree that an equalizer would be very nice (although very rare on any OEM). I hate how on all cars with sub-wolfers, you have to turn the Bass down slightly. It's like the stereos are tuned for use without subs. Maybe for the G35's?

I have both of those on CD-R, and they sound just fine for me in my FX, too (and I've got a fairly decent set of car audio experiences to draw on). Don't forget, the stereo in FXen is tuned for rock, hip-hop and R&B, and the like (the expected demographic); perhaps if your genre is different, you won't like it so much.

i never woulda believed it, but MANY of the XM stations sound as good as a (DDD) CD, imo

i am really smitten with the factory efforts....

although im sure i will upgrade a speaker or two (maybe?), i dont feel any hurry/need to get on it right away.....

i had 2 12"s in a trooper a few years back, and the dang thing actually started unbolting itself from the vibrations.....

enough of that!!

I feel that I need to clarify myself. I am not complaining about the system. I just think Bose is overrated and the spectrum of music, although better than many, is no where near the best. But if you look around, it seems that everyone has Bose in their new cars. Oddly enough, some are much better than others. The best BOSE I have had was tied between my 97 Maxima SE and my 93 300ZXTT. But the best I have had was an infiniti system that was in a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Sorry to anger anyone, that was not my intent.

the 'premium' bose system in the murano is very poor, imo....

one of the most lousy (and premium at thta!) sounding audio systems i have ever heard, in a new car!

yeah infinity is good most every1 i know has infinit speakers. i have had clarion and altec lansing and no complaints here! in my current ride the bass is way louder than the treble. when i went to testdrive the fx, the guy there sorta new me and he was only a few years older so he popped in a e-40 cd (bay area rapper) and blasted it. the whole time i was thinking this is the exact opposit of my current sytem powerful treble, not so powerful bass.

but no worries when i move my 12 jl sub over and add two 10s it and an eq it should be perfect for me. i dont think you have to replace the spakers.

Can someone tell me where those two 8" speakers are located?

Do you think swapping them out for one with a bigger magnet would be feasible...will it fit for one and will the stock stereo be able to pump enough juice into them. Supposedly its a 300 watt stereo system

Let me defend my defense, defensively.

I wasn't referring to you. Some posts on FA were very derrogatory about the stock stereo.

custom audio

Hello,

I am in the process of gutting the factory stereo and putting in a custom stereo which I will hopefully be able to compete with when it is finished. It is a solid car so hopefully the acoustics will work in my favour. I will make sure to post pics as the work pushes forward. In the mean time you can look at the install shop where I am getting it done .www.20hzaudio.com

There are no 8" subs. We could only dream. They're 2 5.25" bass radiators (if ya can call them that) on top of the spare tire.

i found the First Generation FX (our 2006) had a rather nice sounding stock system, now we listen to our music rather loudly and never did the speakers distort or fry for the 69,125 Miles we had the car,the Two 5.25" Woofers in the spare tire pod put out a suprising amount of bass and it reached low enough to sastify our tastes...our New Second Generation FX (2011) basically has the same 11 speaker setup of the old one,but the sound characteristic is notably diffrent, for one the door speakers sound very hollow and the dash speakers lack the same degree of clarity that the last one had,the Sub seems to produce a similar amount of bass but doesn't reach down into the lows like the other one did.
