hope i posted in the right spot. has anyone devised a way to wire up a button on the dash to pop or release the rear hatch? is it possible to do this, and within reason$$? if it can be done maybe one of the buttons on the I-key (or extra alarm remote) can trigger it also - great for loading items just purchased with full hands.

There is a yellow wire (according to the service manual) in the rear door coming from the opener switch that will do this. I didn't hook it up to my alarm remote as I found it just as easy to just push the opener button since you have to pull there to open the hatch anyway. Can be done, but running a wire into the rear door is a PITA :? .

This might be a little off topic, but I think there should be a manual rear hatch release in case of an emergency which requires the rear hatch to be opened from the inside. Like a trunk release in a sedan...my .02

I think there is if you pop off the little plastic door on the rear door inside panel. Have to check that.

Not trying to be an ass but why would there be a need for a trunk realase in the back  It not like you could ever get locked into the trunk. Just climb over the rear seat.

In case the battery is dead and you need to open the hatch.

Thanks! :)

When I was researching different dealerships regarding my purchase of the FX, the one on the showroom floor's battery was dead and neither the dealer or I could figure out how to open the hatch.

This is just something good to know if an emergency does require this function...need to keep my family & friends safe!
