* We would like to know if anyone has done a CUSTOM TRUE DUAL Exhaust System (NOT Bolt-on) from the Cats. back? If so, can you please share pics., comment on pipe size, resonaters, mufflers, etc. & why you chose CUSTOM vs. Bolt-on. Seems like people gave up on this idea last winter :? http://www.infinitifx.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=160 STARTING POINT: Here's what a STOCK FX35 AWD underbody looks like >

I noticed that the braided Flex hose/pipes which absorb torque shock/stress and prolong exhaust system life are missing from both of these. :( Based on the BOLT-ON aftermarket "TD" exhaust systems, which would easily cost well over $1000+ installed, has anybody gone to a local CUSTOM exhaust specialist to have a system fabricated for their FX yet?

Thank you andycpcheng :) We are looking for pics. of FX's that have had "CUSTOM" True Dual exhausts done. Is this Custom or pre-fab (Bolt-On) ? / About 1/2 way down this page we started talking about True Dual Exhausts - Interesting Info. http://www.infinitifx.org/phpBB2/viewto ... 4&start=50

This IS the MOD. section, Right?! So far it looks like nobody has done a CUSTOM "TD" Exhaust on their FX yet. :( I doubt that I'm the 1st to seriously entertain this idea. :? After all the "breathe in" mods, http://www.infinitifx.org/phpBB2/viewto ... c&start=50 it stands to reason that helping the engine to "breathe out" easier with a more free flowing exhaust is next. :) Much $$ can be saved off of the Bolt-on (over $1000++) exhausts simply by taking and combining their Good features and omiting some of their not so good features. (ex. too many turns/bends) As I continue my search/quest I'm open to any helpful thoughts/advice or suggestions you may want to share, or pitfalls to watch out for. MagnaFlow & FlowMaster seem to be popular brands recommended by CUSTOM exhaust specialists. Thank you.

I guess I would fit this category. Recent circumstances prevented me from posting anything sooner.
Mine is a true dual "custom" system bent up by a friend of mine.
I asked him to add the resonators about a week after the exhaust was installed. It deepened the sound a little and I personally like it much better.
I had seven pictures I wanted to upload, but it only seems to want to take three of them.

Well, it looks cheap, anyway. :p

Piniti, you mentioned that you didn't like all the bends in the rear of the stock-styled systems. There are several exhasts available for the Z which feature much straighter pipes going back to twin canisters. Check out all the designs here:
http://www.i-m-racing.com/exhaustheaders.html

The RS-R looks very interesting (the one labeled as not available in USA). I'm sure it wouldn't be TOO difficult to get one. It has the flex pipe and cross-over toward the rear that you were talking about (tough also has an X-pipe resonator in the front). Also check out the Greddy EvoII, JIC and (dare I say it?) Injen.

Also keep in mind with very free-flowing designs like this, you'll lose a decent amount of low end TQ. Gains will be above 3k RPMs. They'll be very loud as well.

Wow- look what the winter salts have done to your underbody! Even a year later, you could eat off mine here in SoCal!

From a functional standpoint, this is the equivalent to the Flowmaster exhaust for about 1/2 the cost. The Twister resonators are of a corksrew design and are a nice addition.

Total parts and labor was about $425.00

Yeah, which is why I'm not so hyped to get one. I'd rather get my ass moving from the beginning.

This car has never seen a winter up here. I bought it on Ebay 3 months ago. It's whole life was spent in the Tulsa, OKlahoma area.
Do they even have snow and salt down there? I think you could probably use a spoon to shovel up the snow they get a year. There would be no logical explanation for the use of salt down there. Maybe there's some other sort of contaminant in the air down there. None would come to mind, however.
I did find a lot of reddish mud and dirt on the bottom of the car when I got it though. Maybe it's stained?

So can you give a review of it's sound and performance?

Sorry, I don't have a way of getting the sound to you.
Using my brother's G-Tech meter, I ran a 7.35 0-60 and a 15.8 @ 91.3 mph 1/4 mile before I added this stuff and I ran a 7.13 0-60 and a 15.57 @ 92.5 mph after.

I am some what amused by the loss of back pressure discussion(particulary given the # of exhausts I have added to cars).Paddock said that to me and Must just said it..On a 45,2.75 or 3" without a resonator loses next to nothing. On a 35 a 2 1/4 should be ok.This is more technical babble than reality.Yes,3: on a 35 is asking for a loss, but 21/2 or less...
