After pampering and upgrading my fx for the last couple of weeks. The fx decides to start sputtering on me while on the way to getting new tires.

At first, it seemed like the sparkplugs were mis-firing, but then the fx would continue on the road. and then suddenly shut itself off. i would soon have to pull over to the side to put her back in park. and then restart. after getting the new tires installed. while on the way over to buddies shop for an oil change, the same thing happpened again and i noticed the vehicle displayed "VDC OFF", "SLIP", and "SERVICE ENGINE SOON". While at the shop my buddy ran the computer diagnostic which came up with a code that read - Camshaft position Sensor-

I got a quote from the dealership - $71.23
i was happy to get the part # from the SA - 237316J906

i just checked everythinginfiniti.com - $53.20

Would anybody happen to know how to replace this thing. ohh...
labor itself is $217.00 at the dealership.

any advice would be helpful and appriciated.

Seems to be driving great now.
Hope you're problem is fixed permanently!
I'm having a problem locating the correct sensors on infinitiparts.com. Does anyone have the product #'s by chance? I have an FX45 so I'm hoping this will solve my problems. All the lights come on but only when there is jarring such as going over railroad tracks, but it has not stalled or even hesitated. The lights were not on when I started it again so I didn't think much of it but it has happened a couple of more times so I figured i might as well replace the sensors to avoid getting stranded. I have about 118K on my FX, so it fits in with other peoples experience. :(

Also, is there only one camshaft sensor and one crankshaft sensor that I am looking to replace? I wasn't sure what I needed to order but in reading people mention replacing 2 sensors at the same time so one doesn't go bad later.

Thanks
You should pull some codes and find the true source of the problems before you start replacing sensors you think might be a problem. That can get very expensive...
Yeah, I'm going to get the codes pulled today so i was just trying to find out how many sensors in all there were. It sounds like a pretty common issue so even by replacing these now and others if the codes pulled indicate say, the abs sensors, it would still be a good idea.
It cost me $350 to replace both sensors. There are total of two CAM sensors. If you replace something that is not a problem it not gonna make your car run any better. Its not like a air filter or spark plugs even that their performance degrades as they get used. The electronic sensors either work or don't work. So IMO you would be wasting money changing sensors that don't need to be changed.

Get the codes and let us know what you find it might be something totally unrelated.

Well I got the code pulled today and its P0328 which is the knock sensor on Bank 1. Thats the only code that it brought up so now I need to figure out if I can find a diagram showing where its located and if that is responsible for the 4 lights that came on in the dash (Slip, VDC Off, AWD & ABS).

Anyone have a diagram from the FSM? Also, anyone else have this code and have the 4 lights come on?

I know this is the Camshaft Position Sensor thread but I thought maybe others got this code as well. I'll start another thread just in case.
I recently replaced both camshaft position actuators and they are a bitch to reach. I have attached an exploded view of the removal and replacement of both sensors. Be prepared to get cozy with your engine. I ended up using a lawn cushion and laying across the engine to be able and reach the sensor.

I have a repetitive P0340 code despite changing the camshaft position sensors and clearing the ecu
Can anyone advise me what next to check ?

Just checked Everythinginfiniti.com and Todays price is $90.00 Thats almost 100% increase from 2006.

Im going to go with some aftermarket ones that have gotten decent reviews. only $15.99 if they give me any kind of issues I will purchase Genuine ones. Also I hope todays Genuine ones come with Metal tips on them and not plastic ones like the OEM Ones? otherwise It will be hard to tell the difference if I am getting an original or aftermarket?
