This is the only step I'm not super thrilled about as I don't like running a power lead outside the car. Everything else was relatively straight forward though.

The price difference is small at the end of the day ($45 vs $100), but I wanted to test it out (and throw the extra $$$ at a plenum spacer)
Well just to follow up, I got it all wired up and my tow wiring tester shows everything working as it should. The biggest pain was routing the power wire underneath, but after that was done everything else worked out fine.

At the end of the day, unless you're really looking to save $50 I'd just opt for the OEM unit.

Curt Tow Reciever

Factory wiring is a great way to go, perfect fit, good instructions, plug and play.

I agree with removing the bumper. The fish line in theory would work, but in practice I found I was not able to get it inserted past the Styrofoam alignment tabs on the Energy Absorber that are pressed into the aluminum bumper reinforcement (the tabs block the channel). Once the Styrofoam was removed, it went well.

After the install, I wish I had just paid the extra for a factory receiver. Better fit also.

preppyr6 Just double checking...so the correct part is not 13558

Also, just take off rear bumper as that will save you a lot of time and headache trying to install the hitch itself trying to use the fish tool to pull the bolt through the support beam.

06-08 fx35 Curt hitch install. Bad info out there.

I feel like i need to tell people about my experience trying to install the Curt wiring harness on my 08 fx35. It is complete madness! I had this long post that i was gonna vent on and serve as a warning to try to keep others from going through the same headache that i went through, but I am just gonna summarize because im sick of even thinking about it; Just buy the oem wiring harness from the dealer. There is misinformation out there about Curt harness and after spending hrs calling curt and troubleshooting, it's just not worth it. The correct Curt part # for 06-08 fx35 is 56201 if you want to go that route but i cant verify that it actually works.
