Headlight lens cover faded?

Looking to clean the acrylic headlight lens covers on my new (to me) girl. Anyone have ideas how best way to return the front lens covers to original sheen? Is the foggy-look just in the outside, or must I clean inside cover?

I use a machine polisher with a fine grade polish, then a wax over the top.

For a quick fix I actually just used toothpaste and it did a decent job.

It's an old trick (like using peanut butter on the plastic trims). Toothpaste is mildly abrasive so does the job surprisingly well.

landmannnn....Peanut butter! You're seriously shocking me. Use peanut butter on plastic trim? Exterior? Please explain process. Thanks!

Run some on and wipe it off. Makes the plastic shiny.

Don't use crunchy, or if you have a nut allergy.

Using toothpaste, polish or compound will clear it up, but the oxidation will return unless you properly seal it. I recently went through this on my mom's 1st gen (used MG Compound/Polish), and sealed the headlights using CG's Jet Seal. We'll see how long it remains clear.
