Rims and Tires for 2012 FX35

Howdy from Texas,

I just picked up a black ‘12 FX35 and am in need of assistance. I visited my local discount tire today and after 45 minutes, I left more confused than when I entered. I am trying to find out how wide of a 20” rim I can go without rubbing? Also, what’s the widest tire I can put on this rim with no rubbing.

I’m planning on “murdering” it out, so if you have any pictures of blacked out fx35’s, that’d be awesome too.

Murdered out examples. I followed a YouTube Video about how to scuff up factory installed aluminum wheels such that a base coat and black paint would stick and I got a little fancy with some tape over the infinity label I’ve been pretty happy with that I’ve had no chipping or anything after three years

You can go with a 12” wide rim and 305/40/20 tires with no issues.

I am running Forgeline GA1R 20*12 and 295/54/20 as with Michigan craters (potholes) on crappy roads I need the tire to have as much of a sidewall so I don’t damage the wheels.
