24" Wheel Project (with color match attachments)

I will soon be installing 24" wheels. I figured since I had time to kill waiting for tires and paint to show up,I would start a thread to document the progress. I have a Beryillium (C16) 2004 FX35 with stock 20" wheels with tire pressure monitors in each wheel that I will not be installing in the new wheels because they will not fit. The new wheels have plastic/chrome attachments that screw on with 3 allen bolts (5 on each wheel). I decided to make these match the car color beryillium (code C16). I ordered my paints and primers from here http://www.automotivetouchup.com/spray_paint.asp. I ordered the first 4 cans shown on that page (2 cans of base color). The wheels are RVM model 636 black and the tires are Toyo Proxies 295/30/24. I really wasn't a big fan of the chrom attachments. You can run the wheel without them (as shown on box label). Just put the allen bolts in the holes and it looks great but I was thinking throwing some color in the wheel may set it off. Here's some pics so far.

I like the accent pieces, they'll look really nice color matched! Never seen "blank" wheels before, though...

Oh, and don't get lead poisoning! /China

Nah... in China, they save all their lead paint to use on children's toys... :P

I already thought of the lead thing. Thats funny. I'll handle them with gloves
As far as them being blank, I think RVM Wheel drills them to fit.

Re: 24" Wheel Project (with color match attachments)

By the way, I came home tonight and I had a gift waiting on my porch. What a surprise. The tracking info read billing information received this whole time which normally means it hasn't shipped out yet. WoooHoo. These may be on the car tomorrow.

****, those are pretty wide for a 9" tire... You may consider trimming the inner plastic fender liner before you fit these on there... But I can't wait to see the pics!

Re: 24" Wheel Project (with color match attachments)

Believe me, I was scared too when I saw the size of those tires on my porch. Everything is on and it fits perfect, no rubbing. It couldn't fit any better. I am very happy. I have some pics but I will have to upload those later when my desktop computer becomes available. I have 3 more pics to add. I took one with no attachments or center cap. Then I took one with just the center caps. The third is with both the center cap and attachments installed. I am still waiting on the paint for the attachments. I think it will be a major upgrade when that's done. I will post those pics shortly.

Re: 24" Wheel Project (with color match attachments)

I forgot to mention, the stock 20's with half tread tires weigh 73lbs each and the 24's with new tires weigh 85lbs each. I was very surprised how heavy the stock wheels are.

I agree... There is something about the little addition of color-match accents that have a huge visual impact and help to coordinate/tie-in all the components. It's gonna look hard!
