// 10 minutes
1. Order new part from the web, I paid 78 dollars.
2. There is no reason to remove the door liner or anything major.
3. There is a little rubber grommet inside the door, remove that plug and you will see a T30 torx screw, that torx screw connects the door handle escutcheon, ie the chromed piece next to the door handle. Now, I could not find a magnetic torx bit, and the hole is tight and there is a risk that the screw falls inside the door. What I did, I used a pincher that grabs to the base of the screw once I had loosen the screw of the escutcheon.
4. Pull out the eschucheon and then pull out the broken handle.
5. Install the new handle, push in towards the rear and then slide forward.
6. Put the esuctcheon back and tighten the screw
7. Replace the rubber grommet.

// Add another 20 if you drop the screw
If you do need to take the liner of, there is one screw under the inside door handle and two more inside the fake metallic looking part of the inside door handle. Pry it off to get access to the two screws and then just pull the liner off. There are 3 eletric plugs that you need to disconnect and the cables for the inside door handle. Then remove the plastic and try to get access to the bottom part of the door to find your screw. Stuff the top part with something so it won't fall too far when you do it again.

This is my sweet revenge for Infiniti not recalling the actuators and door handles, they are worthless and will fail on all of them
Great instructions. One minor change: Don't break off the tab that holds the screw in place!! The tab is designed to ensure the screw doesn't fall into the door. Instead, loosen the screw entirely. Then, remove the chrome piece adjacent to the handle by using a flathead screwdriver. You will see a space for just that purpose. Push the screwdriver into that slot and wiggle the piece out. Then, follow all other instructions above.

anyone know how to change outside door handle for an 2008?? The handle is not the same as the one in the pictures above. My door handle has the open and shut rubber button inside the handle. Infiniti quoted me $700. $344 for parts and the rest labor.

Thumbs up

First of all, thanks to all of you who posted your methods and experiences in doing this door handle replacement. The drivers door handle broke on my 2005 FX. After reading the post from Sammyg1, I understood the concept and the follow up postings helped refine things, especially Kcar, who also had a drivers door to fix. Because of the great information, I replaced the broken door handle in 5 minutes! I can offer a couple of things, I learned. The tabs that hold the torx bolt in place work, don't break them off, they allow the bolt to stay in place while you remove the escutcheon. Also, I purchase my replacement handle from Infinitipartsusa.com, it arrived in 3 days and looked just like the original, at a cost of $108. That's a lot for a piece of chromed plastic, so I also ordered the same thing from carparts.com for $25. It should arrive in a couple of days and as my contribution to this thread, I will give my unbiased comparison of the two. Thanks again guys.

I received the door handle from Carparts.com ($25) today and compared it to the same from Infinitipartsusa ($10. The handles were so similar it would be hard to tell them apart. The chrome look was identical, the weight and structure seemed the same as well. The $108 one had a better, more durable rubber type pad at the base of the latch. The $25 one came with cling wrap protection, included the escutcheon, and was well packaged. I have no way of knowing what the long term results will be, but for now I'd call it a draw. I took pictures of both but didn't post them, not much to see. Hope this helps someone.

I was able to follow the steps for the front drive side door handle but I'm stuck now where I need to take the handle off but the rear end cable is plugged into something inside the door. How do we pull this out? Pics attached.

Weird... Looking at the FSM, there's no mention of that wire...

Yes there is this cable to connect to the switch inside for the smart keyless system. The inside panel needs to come out for that connection. I ended up taking to the workshop, $100, to get it completed. All good now. Piece of advise, if anyone has a smart keyless system on your FX35 2008, don't assume the steps above mentioned in the original thread will work for the driver side front door handle. You will get stuck if you don't know how to open the inside door panel. Thanks.
