Good Morning Everyone,

This weekend was an exciting weekend for The ORG. Over the past couple weeks I have been working with the Autoguide.com group to integrate our forum into their umbrella of sites. Over the holiday weekend that transition took place, and Infinitifx.org is now part of their growing community of forums.

What does this mean to you? Well, if things go as I imagine, not a thing. I'm still a site admin, all of your favorite internet moderators are still moderators! The site now lives on a larger server and there's now there's a staff of people that can attend to any server issues vs. just "me myself and I" :)

Please bear with us over the next few days/weeks with any issues that might pop up from the transfer. I am working directly with one of their admin to fix anything that pops up. Also please ask any questions you have, and share any concerns. My goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible and to keep everyone as happy as possible.

Thanks everyone!

Hi everyone,

My name is Cayne and I’m going to be your go-to-guy from AutoGuide.com. I first want to thank Dallace for all his help during this transition so far and for everything he has done with this community. It's never easy to let go of community like this but I am happy that Dallace will still be around.

You might ask whats going to happen to the current staff here on the site? The staff roles here will not change. Forum moderators and administrators will continue to make the day to day calls. I am going to work with them as a team in order to try and keep the forum running as smoothly as it was before. I also would like to try and make this transition as smooth as possible to a point where it did not seem like there was a transfer of ownership.

With the migration of the site onto our servers, this will help the site run faster and the staff here works very hard to make the site run smoothly and take care of any issues/bugs that may arise as quickly as possible.

I want to keep this short and sweet and so that’s all for now! Please feel free to ask me any questions about anything and I want to hear your thoughts! I’m looking forward to getting to know this community and working with all of you.

Thank you all for reading this and for making InfinitFX.org the place that it is!

Cayne

Nice!

good news I guess... Will we be seeing more ads now? I assume members won't be funding this forum anymore, so I was wondering about the funding and ads

Hi medic, thank you for your feedback. With the site on our server now, it will provide all the support and funding that the site will ever need for any upgrades, issues and etc. Regarding the ads, there might be one or two added but nothing that will take away from site. As Dallace mentioned, I am going to be working alongside the moderating team here to make sure any suggestions/changes are discussed before anything. :)

Interesting development. Let's face it, the site needs some kind of revenue stream to operate and Dallace has always done it on a bare bones budget with no regard for any kind of return on his invested time. I've always thought that not having ads was a nice sentiment but not really necessary. There's more than one way to generate income. A few relatively unobtrusive ads is one way. The other is to offer subscriptions with added benefits to those who subscribe. I have a feeling we will see a number of changes around here. I'm optimistic that it won't be a bad thing.

Glad to hear that the core of the Org is staying put. To me that community was one of the main reasons to keep coming back. Congrats on the expansion, guys!

I just wanna say that I really appreciate everyone's comments so far. I've seen some websites that have made similar announcements with a fair amount of negative replies. I've always felt this place was above average in the "class department" than most other forums and hope this group continues to thrive as it has.

The Sonata is a nice car, but we certainly do miss our FX :-(

Was just thinking site loaded faster than usual (already usually very fast). Thanks for efforts dallace and care in moving to next stage.

(10 mins later)
Autoguide.com took forever to load and I had to close the window so other browser windows on phone would work. I shudder to think what would happen if I turned adblock off.

Just wanted to say hi. I haven't been in in awhile.

So in the last 48 hours, why does the posts page continnually refreash and send me to the top of the page 5 or 6 times while I'm scrolling down? Any changes recently? Because its annoying. Or am I the only one getting this?

#22 ·
Am I the only one getting dozens of page refreshes from the "700 x 22 placeholder" (or 728 x 90 or whatever) image? No one else notices any lag?

View new posts page on android browser (UAString set to pc, adblock). Page loads, I swipe to scroll down, and then page reloads, returning me to top. Yahoo does it and drives me nuts- this site never has done that before. No new settings or changes in last few days? Could be fluke or my end. Thanks

I tried to duplicate this but am getting an error when trying to log in with my phone (chrome via Samsung Galaxy Nexus) and there seems to be at least a missing file which is preventing me from logging in.

I've passed this information along to the autoguide guys. I asked if there was any upgrade/changes as well.

I'm the only one. Sigh. Ok. Get the msg. Directed at me and no one else gets this special treatment. Almost 10 yr, but won't shoot for that again. Also won't try to interact with "Autotrader" (C), (TM), (R), (P), (SYFAO), (FU), etc., again.

Dislexic maybe they couldn't repro the issue? I don't see it on my GS3 using the stock browser or chrome. But I'm not running adblock. Maybe thats your issue? Did you try disabling it?

OK. so what's the deal with the automatic links that appear in posts where recognized words are used? Am I the only one that doesn't really dig that kind of advertising as it makes the OP look like they are trying to sell you something.

I hate those things....

I'm just using regular IE but I'm not sure what version. I see them on my Mac at home as well.

Happens in threads new and old. The links are in blue lettering and link to sites like Ebay and Bizrate.

OMFG. "Malware & autoguide" search leads to hilarious and sad results. Good luck, kids. Told you so.

I'm wondering the same thing.

When I hover over these links in Safari I get the message "link added by Viglink"

I check in on several forums and am active on a few. This only happens here and only started in the last couple of weeks.
