it's not located behind the radio, it's located in the middle console at the floor by the rear cigarette lighter outlet. the plug is located in this area and you tap into this plug. you may have to reach in and pull it out.

Sorry about that guys/gals I didn't move the Pictures and uploaded directories over to the new layout. I copied them to files.infinitifx.org which is actually on another server. I just forgot to fix the links  Things should be all fixed up now.

Then get a mini to rca cord for the ipod and just plug it into the front of the dvd player, then hit the button on the dvd to select those jacks. Dont remember what the button is called though- mode or input maybe.

i did the connection from ipod into DVD player. i dont remember what it was, but there was one step i missed, i think pressing a button on the DVD player. just set the front to DVD, and i think its the input button or AUX button on the dvd player that needs to be pressed. if you just get the ipod playing, then hit buttons until you get sound. i've never had to go back and change anything, just hit DVD on the dash and its all set to go.

So i did this mod on the back of the HU (05 fx35 tech and nav) and ran into the low audio volume mentioned in the beginning. I'm looking at the Pac Turbo-1 to boost the volume up, but i'm wondering how to wire it in. Any help would be nice.

Hello and thanks for the aux mini adapter post. I did it to my FX35 and it works great w/my ipod, accept for the low volume. I got the Pac Turbo pre amp and have a question. How did you hook up the RCA wires to the mini jack? Did you use the center (shielded wire) for right (or left channel) and the outer braided (ground) wire as the common? Or did you just use the center wire and use the seperate common wire(s) set up as shown on the basic mod w/o the pre amp? :?: Thanks in advance for your help.

You really should connect RCA cables to the pins/harness, instead of the mini jack cables. Then from those rcas, connect to the IN of the Turbo, then get a RCA to mini adapter, and connect it to the OUT of the Turbo. Then you have your mini jack, now at a higher level.

I mean this method is really the more difficult way to go nowadays. Just get a PAC AAI-NIS2 and plug it into the back of the radio. No soldering or guessing. This mod in this thread was for back before the PAC was available.

that may be true, but the PAC is ~$70. Parts from radioshack, monoprice, and the turbo1 will run about $30 (with the turbo1 being 2/3 of the cost). Not to mention I'd rather use the CD/Rear AV button.

Please make sure you UNCHECK "disable bbcode" when you are posting- it makes your posts easier to read when there are quotes.

Yeah its cheaper, but a hell of alot harder to solder to the back of the radio and more of a chance of messing something up. The Pac is plug and play so the extra $40 is worth it.

Please use the search feature. There are MANY threads on how to add an aftermarket headunit using this method discussed in this thread, or using the PAC AAI-NIS2 and Turbo1 to send your new radio's audio into the stock setup. Plus there is a sticky at the top of the Audio forum with wiring colors.

Strange that it doesn't play your MP3 CDs... mine play fine on my 07... and I usually use WMAs instead of MP3s... you can use either of those 2 formats in the 06-08 FX CD player...

Does anyone have the complete wiring specs for the grey av harness? From this thread, I can only see descriptions for pins 1,2,3,4,9,11. What about the others? Specifically: are there pins for power (Continuous +12V, Switched +12V, Ground, etc.)? Also, is there place to purchase the "male" connector for this harness? Thanks for your help.

This is a great post and thanks for the write up! Some of you have experienced the low volume...what my question is...are you connecting your iPod via the Headphone jack or the line out jack? Reason I ask is because there is a difference electronics wise. Line out will be pure signal without any volume control, higher voltage and lower amperage which if you were to connect to it would be really loud.

The headphone jack is low voltage and high amperage and is affected by the volume control. Even with the volume up still will not be the same because the impedance is different between the two and the headunit is most likely looking for a higher impedance and the headphone jack provides a lower impedance. So you hear the volume being lower but you also lose alot of sound and bass quality.

Overall what that means is, the headunit has a higher resistance of the signal compared to what the headphone jack can produce hence the "lower volume". This week I will be testing this theory for myself as I have found posts on other sites of this being the case.

The tape adapter to the headphone jack setup will work great because the tape head is at the same impedance as the headphone jack.

The Turbo1 line driver is used to fix the low volume problem.
