why not just get a longer mini-jack cable and run it through the cutout for the charger under the left armrest?

I'm thinking about trying this install, but have some questions.

Because I bought my FX in early '03, I expect I should already have the unused MES-DVD player harness located under the center storage console, so I am planning to follow that set of instructions. Sorry if these questions are really stupid, but here goes:

1) "First, short out pins 9 and 11 on the harness to activate the REAR AV button. " - How do I short out these pins? (I am clearly not an electronics wizard.)

2) "Connect the headphone jack to the harness. The headphone jack has 3 connections on it, Tip(left), Ring(right) and Sleeve(common)" - Is the headphone jack the same thing as the "274-249 1/8" (3.5mm) Phone Panel Mount Jack?" Also, what wire do I use to connect it?

Can the thumb controls on the steering wheel control the ipod once installed? Not that that would change anything, but it would be cool.

Is there a way to do an RCA jack install rather than the 3.5mm, so I could get the audio from a portable dvd player to also go through the same jack?

Thanks!!

Why don't you check out the OEM adapter? http://www.infinitifx.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=11426

Hello and thanks for the aux mini adapter post. I did it to my FX35 and it works great w/my ipod, accept for the low volume. I got the Pac Turbo pre amp and have a question. How did you hook up the RCA wires to the mini jack? Did you use the center (shielded wire) for right (or left channel) and the outer braided (ground) wire as the common? Or did you just use the center wire and use the seperate common wire(s) set up as shown on the basic mod w/o the pre amp? :?: Thanks in advance for your help.

Does anyone with this harness in their vehicle mind doing me a favor. I need the part number of the harness that plugs into the Brown port on the back of the radio which runs down to the factory DVD player into the center console. Infiniti can get me any part i need but the only issue is that they are blocked for some reason from being able to look up the part itself.

Your help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Anyone ever tried installing this mod sold on ebay and had luck?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 409&rd=1,1

Now, I'm guessing you cannot hook this up to the DVD input connector under the center console?

Thanks.

If I do this mod can I use rca jacks instead of the headphone jack? my pac nis2 through the sat plug is not functioning correctly and looking for an alternative. got my new headunit installed in the clock area with xm and ipod adapters hooked up to the headunit, but no sound consistently from the sat button works when it wants to work. Another question, the rear av button and cd button are one, how would this affect me selecting the factory cd changer or using the pioneer headunit?

Guys,

I just did the mod on my car and everything sounds great but I was wondering if anyone did any gain adjustment on the PAC Turbo 1? what is a good method to determine if it needs to be done and how to do it?

ken I did the mod also and I ended up adding the turbo 1 and increased the gain for my head unit that I added because I was having to turn my head unit all the way up and increase the volume on the factory unit which I think caused my factory unit to cut off due to overheating at high volume. Not sure if turbo 1 is needed with the ipod or other mp3 players.

thanks for the input maddog, I have acutally connected my mp3 player input according to the write up with the dvd harness under the armrest.

I installed the pac turbo because i knew i was going to have the same low volume level problem.

What i was wondering is that if its needed for me to tweak the grain setting on the pac 1 or if I should just keep it on the factory setting. Bottom line, is it worth messing around with the gain settings to figure out which is the best level for me or is the factory setting good enough?

You are right. After a certain date, they were not installed unless you had the rear video.

Just do the OEM ipod unit... :D

Pidus you can keep your XM and have the ipod too. With the ipod unplugged, you get your XM. Plug in the ipod, then the ipod plays thru the sat portion of the radio. Unplug the ipod, your XM is back on.

Check in that 12+ ipod module page thread for more details.

The new ipod oem setup plugs in behind the radio. They are a custom cable setup- not a nissan part. Get it from Brian (jerseyparts) at http://www.nissansattuner.com

Order the ipodfrontkitwithsat setup. http://nissansattuner.com/catalog.aspx? ... 4&detail=1

UPDATED!!!!!!!

Can someone verify this part number for me. I just called my Infiniti dealer and after weeks of working on this i think we found the part number to the MES-DVD cable.

24016-CG000 $76.00

This shows as the harness that runs from the back of the head unit to the factory DVD unit. If so this should make life much cleaner and easier for those of us that want to add clean audio.

Someone else please check this out as well so i'm not wasting $76.00 on not having the right cable.

Alright, i just attempted to do this mod. pulled everything out but can't find a connector on the back of the radio that looks like the one pictured on page one of this thread. I have an 04 non-tech. here are a couple shots of the back of my radio. can someone tell me which connector is supposed to match the diagram? does anyone have the color codes for the channel + and - wires that i'm supposed to tap into? as well as the two wires that need to be shorted to activate the rear AV?
