FRONT SPACER INSTALL

H&R 20mm spacer kit with extended studs.

1.JACK UP CAR AND PUT ON JACK STANDS. (DO NOT WORK ON A CAR WITHOUT QUALITY JACK STANDS!)

2.REMOVE WHEELS

3.REMOVE CALIPERS BY REMOVING 2 BOLTS FROM THE REAR OF THE CALIPER AND HANG ON SPRING WITH A ZIP TIE.

4.REMOVE CALIPER HOLDER BY REMOVING 2 BOLTS FROM REAR OF CALIPER MOUNT.
Image

5.REMOVE ROTOR
Image

6.REMOVE OLD STUDS BY USING A SMALLER SOCKET ON THE STUD AND HITTING WITH A HAMMER.
Image

7.ONCE THE STUDS ARE LOOSE YOU CAN REMOVE THEM FROM THE REAR.
Image

8.WITH THE 20MM NEW STUDS YOU WILL HAVE TO TURN ROTOR TOWARDS THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND PUT IN THE NEW STUDS WHERE THERE IS A GROOVE IN THE DUST SHIELD.
Image

9.TAKE ONE OF YOUR OLD STOCK LUGNUTS AND REVERSE THEM SO THE FLAT SIDE OF THE LUG GOES ON FIRST.. SCREW THE LUG NUT ALL THE WAY DOWN AS FAR AS YOU CAN SO THE NEW STUDS GET FORCED IN A LITTLE.
Image

10.GET ALL THE NEW STUDS ON.
Image

11.PUT ROTOR BACK ON.
Image

12.PUT CALIPER MOUNT AND CALIPER BACK ON.
Image

13.INSTALL THE NEW SPACERS AND PUT YOUR WHEELS BACK ON.

14.ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR WHEELS ON YOU ARE GOING TO TIGHTEN THE LUGS DOWN AND THIS SHOULD FORCE THE REST OF THE NEW STUD IN ALL THE WAY.

15.MAKE SURE YOU TORQUE YOUR LUGS TO AROUND 85 FT/LBS.

16.RETORQUE YOUR LUGS AFTER 60 MILES OF DRIVING.

ENJOY

What is the purpose of the spacer?

Pushes the wheels out 20 (or however many depending on spacer size) mm. 20 mm makes the wheels flush with the fenders. Makes the car look a little wider. In theory, provides for a more forgiving handling range, since the car is wider, but not taller.

Hi fxlr8,
Is it necessary to retorque the bolts every 60 miles? That seems like a lot?
Do you run the risk of them loosening?? Thx.

You should also fill up tank every 25-30 miles, just in case. Seriously though- I'm here all night. No- only the first 60 miles. Maybe after another 300 if you are super super anal.

I have had 20mm spacers sitting in the garage for almost a year now. Hoping this summer. Ichiba brand. Also have struts and H&N springs sitting around. Have to get new tires before November, so trying to save up to do all at once.

Cool...getting Eibach springs and H&R 25mm spacers and Hankook Ventus 265/40/22s installed today. Thinking of doing an alignment right after as well. Can't wait to see how it looks....

Nice write-up!

Have before and after exterior shots?

Anybody running 20mm spacers with stock suspension and 20s? Good idea or bad? Just wondering if it would improve the looks and handling at all.

Any downside to spacers?
