I just ordered the England harness and am going to do a Parrot install. My Motorola kit is at the end of the line since I'm going to get a Treo 700w or a Moto Q phone whcih won't be compatible anyway. I'll try to write it all up with pictures. Of course, all this info is provided as is - I'm not a phone installer :P

The resistors are installed between the Parrot black box and the Parrot mute dongle - on the red and white phone audio output lines - they are not in line with the Bose system. All the resistors do is cut down the audio level so the Bose isn't getting 3 watts of audio during a call.

Here is a brief diagram. The resistors are 1K ohm. Remember, the volume knob on the radio is not used during a call and NAV audio will not come through when on a phone call.

ps -revised diagram 3/4/06 to remove the big load resistor which turned out not to be needed. The diagram is for the Parrot CK3100 only and can not be used for the new 3200LS color.

Ok, I see how the resistors are being used now. Looks good.

SDGuy: That's quite a site you found in the UK -- they seem to be the masters of "let's not cut wires."

Sorry to hear that your MOTO is history. My IHF1000 is still cranking with the pulse relay mod box and zero problems, plus, mercifully it offers near full BT interoperability with the Nokia 6230 series. As you found, changing phones can put that at jeopardy, but I think the 6230s will be around the house a while. Should I have to change BTHF unit, at least all the "heavy lifting" is done now on the car piece of the install.

My car kit is much older - I think it is an S9950 and is not bluetooth. So it is time to say goodbye. Glad you like the IHF1000. The Parrot is about the same price and has an LCD readout which shows signal strength and battery charge all the time, incoming caller ID plus can show the phone book. The new Parrot 3200 is color but is big and doesn't really do anything differently as far as I can tell: http://nicestuffonline.com/products/Par ... ems/3200ls

The UK company that makes those harnesses is called Autoleads but SIO Communications has the best presentation of the various models on the web. As long as a car with your connector type is sold in the UK - you are AOK. But try to get a harness for a GM - you are plum out of luck. We'll see how long SIO takes to get my Nissan harness across the pond.

You guys can get the harnesses at any shop that sells car audio stuff too. They are made by Metra and American International. Check http://www.metraonline.com.

You ain't going to find a harness like this at Metra, AI or Scosche: John, look carefully - ISO adapters and all!

Actually they are nissan harnesses and VW harnesses just spliced together, with a loop in there.

Any definitive word on when the Moto Q is coming out? Supposed to be Q1 of this year but mums the word form the boys at the Verizon store. Any insiders have the low down on this?

I have a feeling it is delayed past the first quarter. I like the form factor. It is about the same size but half the thickness of the 700w Palm phone. If the bluetooth voice dialing works like the E815 it will be a thing of beauty in the car too.

Here is the real deal. Received from England in just 5 days! Picture below shows the Nissan ends on the top photo and Parrot ISO connector ends on the bottom photo. No work at all to connect up....

FedEx is amazing stuff.
Wow ... looks like it'll be a breeze!
Picked a spot for the control box within that lead length yet?

This is an older thread - but I had something important to report. If anyone ordered the England Harness to do the resistor mod described above - please read this. FearFx tried the England harness and it turns out there was a wiring error on the harness! If you purchased one from England, don't install it - you will have to exchange it for the newly revised model. Of course, the HBBH-1 that I make is probably a better choice to connect up a 3000, 3100 or 3200 kit, but it does cost $149. Howard

Thank you for the great write ups and comments.

I have read it through, and I still have a question. I'm about to install Parrot 3200LS with HBBH-1. As other guys posted already the installation seems easy. However, that I am very confusing which one is the power cable (from the car) that I should connect with the Parrot 3200 (Line +, -). As the Parrot install manual described, I should find power cables for all time powered and powered upon ignition on. which line did you use for each?

I have seen couple other people have done it already. if you can please help me out here... I want to install it ASAP.

JP,
Disregard all the instructions in the above thread - that was for a hack to the CK3100 for those who wanted to avoid the expense of the HBBH-1. You don't have to worry about any of that since you already have an HBBH-1.

The Parrot manual is also creeping you out. As per the included directions with the HBBH-1, the only thing you have to manually connect up is to push the yellow mute wire into one of the 3 receptacles marked Mute 1, Mute 2 or Mute 3 (doesn't matter which one). The rest of the wires Parrot gives you including the line out wires, 2 extra mute receptacles and the two male ISO connectors just get bundled up and placed out of harm's way. The HBBH-1 automatically does everything electrical that needs to be done (12 v battery power, ignition power, muting, switching, the works!) - just pull 2 plugs out of the back of your radio, then plug the two white HBBH-1 plugs into the back of the radio. The other 2 HBBH-1 white plugs go to the 2 connectors you pulled out of the back of the radio to begin with. The two ISO connectors on the other end of the HBBH-1 go to the 2 female ISO's from the Parrot kit (they can't even be plugged in wrong because of the side guide on the plugs)! Any more questions, write to me at quickconnect@cox.net. Howard

ps - better yet, you can see the installation procedure by clicking on the link on this page that reads "Want to see what is involved in installing an HBBH-1 with a Parrot kit?" about 3/4 of the way down the page: http://members.cox.net/quickconnect

Thank you SDGuy,
I now can start working on it, hopely i can get started by tomorrow if the weather is fine.
Should I cut the unnessary wires off? or should I just leave it there.
I don't want short on dangling wires.

I wouldn't cut anything off in case you ever go to reuse the Parrot kit. Just make sure they are taped or otherwise protected from damage or shorts.

Thanks SDGuy,

I have installed the Parrot 3200 successfully this afternoon.
Everything went smooth and nice. it took me an hour to complete the installation.

However, for some reason, the parrot does not sync. with my phone book.
Based on my web search result Samsung SCH-A950 does not support bluetooth data exchange.
is there any way i can solve this problem?

Hi JP. Glad you got the Parrot installed. I think the Samsung 950 and 970 have some phone book sync problems unfortunately. Not the Parrot's fault - but try calling Peter at Parrot tech support 1-877-9Parrot

All other features should work. What carrier do you use? I'm very happy with the Verizon Motorola E815
