Is the self healing paint still being offered on Infiniti vehicles? I had heard that Infi discontinued it. What years is/was it offered?

Our 09 FX has it but the 2010 FX's do not. I don't about other years.

all I know is, from what I've seen at least, the ceramic clearcoat costs around twice the price of a conventional urethane clearcoat... anxious to try it on grilles and wheels though...

Does anyone know if it actually works? From my observation there is nothing special about my paint.

Take a look at this thread ---> viewtopic.php?f=9&t=21943
From what people said there, the Scratch Shield paint was suppose to "fix" minor scratches and swirl marks. Any deep scratches or chips were no different from regular paint.

it's a ceramic clearcoat, it is much harder than a regular clearcoat, resists chipping better & is claimed to self heal minor, & I mean very minor scratches with prolonged sun exposure, not like a real scratch, but more like the tiny micro fine scratches of like rubbing a rag on it & making light swirl mark type stuff, not a real scratch, just extremely light surface scratches that a normal detail would remove on a conventional clearcoat... it don't mean that if someone keys your car that the scratches will just disappear :)

I think the self healing paint is really all hype. I have it on my FX and it definitely is not a selling feature for me.

As someone commented in the link I posted above, the self healing paint does make a noticeable difference if you compare self healing paint side by side with normal paint. The person I am speaking about had the front bumper on their '09 repainted with non-Scratch Shield paint, and a few months later he could see swirl marks in the repainted areas that did not show up on the Scratch Shield painted areas.

I also had my front fender replaced and it was re-painted with regular paint. It's been about 4 months and I can't see any difference.
