2003 FX45 passenger HID out

Any help or input would be appreciated. I have a 2003 FX45 and the passenger side HID is out. I've transposed the bulbs and each bulb, when put in the driver's side lamp, works fine. I 've checked the fuse box inside the drive floor panel as well as in the battery compartment. Has this happened to anyone else? If there something else I am missing. Is there a TSB? Any advice or insight would be appreciated. I would rather not take it in for something I could easily address myself.

Thanks

There are 2 fuseboxes in the battery compartment. The other one is buried in there. Did you check that one?

Check that one too. You will probably have to remove the cover.

I'd say at least 95% sure, chances are your ballast needs to be replaced. it is under the headlight & the headlight needs to be removed to access it. the ballast is actually 2 parts, the ballast below the headlight & the igniter, which is the silver box type socket that actually connects to the bulb.

you can usually pick up a ballast assy for our setup for 75-80 or so on ebay, they are much more expensive new from the dealer. make sure you get complete with both parts (ballast & igniter) to be sure the problem would be solved... trying one piece or the other is a pain because of needing to R&I the headlight each time to try it, where if you have both it's a sure fix...

chances of your problem being anything other than this are very slim...., I'd buy it to have it before disassembling the front to get at it personally...

Was your FX involved in the headlight recall? If not call the dealer and see if they will replace them for you. All they need to do is run your Vin # to find out. When mine were done they replaced everything the whole assembly. They took it out of the box plugged it in and away I went.

don't mean to be combative, but you may be mistaken, that's improbable to say the least. infiniti does not supply these that way, they come with all the bulbs in place but that's it. the ballast & igniter are transfered from the old to the new in each & every one done under recall or otherwise...

When mine were replaced they took new headlights out a box and put them on the truck. I watched them do this. I can't say that everyplace did it like this.

I'd like to know which of these two cases is policy...the reason I ask is that I am having issues with the driver's side HID. It ignites slowly, & dies after about a minute, depending on how hot the lamp is. I'm pretty sure it's not the lamp because it still displays the same symptoms after swapping the lamps from left to right. Looks like a bad ballast to me regardless.
