Did the first detail of my recently purchase 2003 FX45. Bought it with only 24k on the clock so the car is in EXCELLENT shape. Also the color made it impossible to find swirls and nearly impossible to find anything deeper. Quite a contrast to my black Trans Am. Anyway here was my procedure:
Wash
Dry
Clay Bar (almost didn't need it)
Meguiars #80 on a 8006 pad on my DA Orbital. Wasn't really doing much on the deeper scratches that I could see
Meguiars #83 on a 8006 pad on my DA Orbital. Definately took some scratches out. Couldn't see any micromarring so on to the wax
Waxed with Meguiars #21 on a 9006 pad on my DA Orbital (very durable and looks amazing on light colored cars. Great for a daily driver)
Last step was some of the new Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer
I could tell a big difference in the shine and glow of the car, but since it was already in good shape, it wasn't a dramatic difference. And let me tell you this, putting tire gloss on 50 series 20" tires is a CHORE!!!
