FX50 Softening the Ride

I'm at my wits end! My wife has a 2010 FX50 with 22" OEM wheels.

My wife will not come off the stock 22" on her FX50, but wants to know what we can do to get the ride softer. I know this means new struts and springs, but don't know where to turn for part numbers and good and bad manufacturers. Has anybody else tried to fix this issue and can give me some websites to look at?

I have seen some posts about KYB Shocks and H&R Springs, but can't find any specific fitment for the FX50, only the 35's and 45's....

Thanks in advance for any knowledge you can drop on me.

Sorry, but you guys bought the wrong car.

Most people got your car because they liked it that way, you unfortunately don't.

The larger brakes on the FX50S require the 21" wheels it originally comes with. SOME 20" wheels MIGHT fit.

FX 50S wheels will fit the older FX 35/45, but those wheels will NOT fit the FX50S.

Get bigger (higher sidewall) tires that will help cushion the ride a little bit. otherwise, unfortunately like others have said this is the nature of the car, and a longer test drive may have helped your decision.

If you really can't take it I and can afford it, an aftermarket suspension can actually be more comfortable than the factory setup (airbags) but depends on your wallet and willingness to modify.

When I mean aftermarket I mean replacing the entire suspension, not just swapping springs or struts.
The H&R will simply lower the car 1.5"ish with similar ride quality, same with Eibach.

Hey jbaker! Haven't seen you in a while...

When you say aftermarket suspension for the 2nd Gen, did they ever make coilovers for it? The coilovers on my 1st Gen died pretty quickly due to Canadian winters...

I rarely go on the forums much except to see if new aftermarket things have come out. The huge influx of new users paired with the inability of any of them to search for their answers is frustrating. Plus I am selling the car...

Anyway, They have coilovers available now, yes. Megan, BC, Fortune Auto. (cheapest to most expensive / quality)

Hmmm... never heard of Fortune Auto... might hafta look into it... My Megans were crap and I already need to replace them... was gonna go BC but if Fortune Auto is better, I'll at least look into them...

Fortune are seemingly much higher quality and are also around twice the price. I can put you in touch with the guy I was speaking with from there. You can also get Swift springs with them for an even better ride.

Sure! If you could PM me your contact's info, that would be great! Not sure if I wanna spend double, but if it's THAT much better, then I definitely would... never going back to stock springs and struts after having coilovers, BUT Canadian winters kill them really fast!
