Recommended Tire pressure for 22's? and steering wheel shake

I've been having really bad steering wheel vibration and shaking while going over 45 mph. My tire pressure is at 40 psi, is this too much?? Any suggestion on why the steering wheel is shaking so badly.

I have 285/35/22 toyo proxes.

Holy cow... 40psi, is that the recommened psi for the tire? kinda high to me... I would have thought it's around 32 - 35psi. I keep mine around 33psi.

The vibration sounds more like balancing issue to me, no?

i also have a problem on my 22'

i just put new wheels on that i bought online, when came mounted and balanced

so i put them on, i also have a little drive problem. doesnt shake but feels as if the car goes up and down a bit when i drive.

problem i think.... when i put the wheels on, the holes did line up but COULDN't screw in the bolt, had to lower the jack a couple times to make it fit. you guys think the little space i have makes this problem??? are there spacers i can buy or something???? to fix this

or....

they messed the mounted and balanced up

I thought it might be the wheels being out of balance, but i called Axis and they said that it shouldn't be since they have a new wheel balancing machine. I'll try to lower the pressure to 33 and see what happens. If all fails I will probly just go get the wheels balanced again.

at 40 psi you'll feel every bump on the road. 32 cold tire pressure, when the tires are warmed up, they hover around 33 to 34.

I'm running 285/35/22 toyo proxes also. Max psi is 50, I have my psi at 46-47 with no problems. I have seen the balancing machine at Axis and yes its top notch very much high tech. But you never know what could happen. I would get them rebalenced. Tire shake usually comes from tires not being balances properly. It could also be that your lugs are not tighted down enough .

Yes, rookie would give you a more detailed answer.

I got my wheel/tire set ready to go as well. But after driving for a couple of days I noticed there was a minor shake at the steering wheel. Rebalanced the tires, kept the psi at 36 (running 285/50/20s). No more shaking. Somtimes the solution could be the simplest thing, rebalancing, checking to make sure the tires were mounted in the right direction, correct psi, etc. Good luck.

I tired lower the psi to 34 and it still shakes. So the next step is to rebalance the wheels. Seems like that is the solution I'm coming up with while searching. Hopefully Axis will reimburse me for the rebalance.
