Interesting, do you think it's a binary signal - ie, toggles on and off to reset the system, or a constant-on type of system that just needs to get interrupted?

Or is it actually some sort of data stream that is passing a value to the ECU?

I'll do some digging under the dash to see what I can find as well.

Anyone own other Nissans/Infinitis that have some sort of "learn" routine built in for the TPMS? Or do most folks just pay the dealer?

The reset isn't just for winter/summer wheels... you have to do it when you rotate tires too, otherwise you'll never know which tire is which.

Googling brings up a surprisingly sparse set of results still.

More news. Talked to OTC and they say that their Genisys with 2006 Asian Model software will do the same thing as the Consult-II from Nissan.

Looks like the Genisys is about $1000 on eBay, and does A LOT for the FX35.

I'm going to research this some more - might be a worthwhile tool to have as I am planning on keeping the car a few years and it is nearly outside the warranty period.

Can anyone confirm if the Genisys will put the TPMS in learn mode?

Thanks

Looks very interesting. http://www.genisysotc.com/pdfs/USA_2006_Asian.pdf

Lot of money for activating the tire thing. I don't think anyone here can confirm it does in fact do what you're looking for. Keep at it.

OTC customer service says their #3669 tool with 2006 Asian software will do this.

Tracking it on eBay and seeing what it goes for... and what else it can do.

Looks like it can do pretty much everything the Consult-II can, which makes it interesting in a lot of other ways...

Found some interesting info while doing a quick search - check this out:
Schrader-Bridgeport TPMS Reprogramming Document

I looked under my dash and found the white DLC connector, but not the "special connector". In the FX service manual, there is a "Tire Pressure Warning Check Switch", which I'm guessing is the same signal. But I can't find its location in the service manual. Anyone have any ideas or have a good relation with an Infiniti service tech?
I know this is thread is a little stale... Just wondering if anyone has tried the method in the Schrader-Bridgeport Technical Bulletin.

Phil, if you can't find the "special connector"/"Tire Pressure Warning Check Switch", you might try tapping into the wire at the BCM connector pin 8. (service manual shows this wire is pin 15 on 2006 models)

Yeah this thread is a bit old. Phil has moved on from the FX...

I don't think anyone has tried that procedure. I'm pretty sure you have to use the Consult tool and some type of rf device to initialize the sensors.

I'm pretty sure you could also just go to a Nissan dealership as they should have the consult II sofware too... and it's probably gonna be cheaper to have it done at Nissan than at Infiniti...

even if it did work, that procedure is only good if you just replace ONE sensor... it's made so a service guy can deal with a complete repair situation without a consult II, but to reprogram all of them, the consultII is the only way to put it in that learning mode, then it is taught vehicle position by setting the tire pressures at different specific pressures from each other & it relearns the freq's & locations... from left front clockwise I think

maybe theres a transmitter to excite each one in sequence too? I've seen the pressure way listed in the manual I think
