Timing chain

Hi,

I got my new FX35 (2005) 2 days ago.

Do i need to check for the timing belt or it's a chain and there is no need to replace?

Thx

Re: Timing chain

This is a picture of the underside of the FX, near the rear exhaust, correct?

That thing hanging is a grounding wire for the exhaust system. The one end just hanging there used to be spot welded to the muffler, but they seem to come apart after a few years. Some members here have seen this happen to their FXs (as well as G35s on other boards), and I don't think it causes any problems if not attached. You can just unbolt the other end.

Re: Timing chain

Congrats on your FX. Your Sig says, FX35. This is a FX45 subforum.. i'm not sure if the V6 has timing belts, or a chain. I would double check that.

Re: Timing chain

Ooh yeah i guess i should have read closer. Saw it was in the 45 forum....
I'll move it, and maybe someone will confirm on belt vs chain.
