AWD vs Rear Drive

What's better to buy (used car) AWD fx35 or Rear wheel drive? And how to find out that certain fx35 is RWD? Thanks.

Best Way to Answer this is .. to ask your self... do we have snow where i live? even a inch or two? if yes. then i would look for a AWD because I have a RWD and it sucks in the snow. even a tiny bit!

I agree. If you get bad weather in your area, than having AWD will be beneficial. But if not, than you'll be better off with a RWD, and save on all that extra weight that comes with AWD...unless you're autoX'ing hehe

FACT: AutoX does not require AWD, just healthy appropriate tires

^^ They've said it well. Where do you live? If you get snow or you plan on driving through "sticky" situations, you might want AWD. I live in Tucson Arizona and have a RWD, and we never get snow down in the city........well, almost never http://infinitifx.org/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 7&start=25 But even when it did snow here in those pics and we had black ice, I just hit the snow button and drove safely, and I was fine.

I didn't get AWD because of autocrossing, but there's no denying it provides an advantage there and on the track, too.

FACT: A good many people, even up here, get by with 2WD, albeit mostly FWD.

My 1995 Dodge 3/4 ton work van weighs about 5800lbs and has RWD.
You lose something with that much inertia---nothing will save you.

I've never gotten stuck or slid off the road with it or any vehicle in the last 30 yrs or so.

Knowing how to drive on ice and snow and respecting the fact that you HAVE to drive slower and allow extra time to stop is the key.
Stopping is much more of an issue than going.

AWD is helpful, but absolutely necessary?---No, it's not.
Does it provide an advantage? Of course.

I'm talking 250"-300" of snow here every winter. Bare pavement here will not be accessible till next spring, except on the highways and very well traveled roads.
