How to Siphon/transfer gas from one car to another

first off, let me start off with this disclaimer.
I am not stealing gas from other people's cars. (its been happening around NYC a lot in my area)

anyways, my brother's car is just sitting in the driveway and he just left for a two week vacation. My car is only half full and he told me that if i needed gas and did not want to pay for it, to just somehow siphon it. I was wondering if anyone had any techniques to do this, and if i should siphon it into a bucket of something first before putting it into the fx?

thanks in advance

Why dont you just get a plastic gas can for a few $$ and go buy some gas? Siphoning without a pump usually means using a tube and sucking in gas/fumes. Not smart. And if you don't know how to siphon liquids beforehand, youre gonna suck in a bunch of gas learning how.

Plus some cars have anti-siphoning measures in the tank/tube. Alot of effort to save a few bucks, unless you want to take a trip to the hospital.

Why don't you drive your brother's car instead of the FX for a while? The final aim is to use the extra gas right? Plus you should have his keys since you can open the gas tank..

Just punch a hole underneath with a screwdriver and collect the gas in a container. No siphoning needed!

Re: How to Siphon/transfer gas from one car to another

It ain't simple nowadays. You can buy a siphon tube with a hand pump on it at most auto parts stores. You'll need to siphon into a gas can, because the outflow must be below the bottom of the car's gas tank. When you want to pour the gas into your car, you'll also need a funnel with a small nozzle that can be used to push past the spring-loaded fill protector on most car's fill tubes.

FYI, most gas thieves use electric pumps. Just by coincidence, there are a lot of them being sold on e-bay nowadays!

If you are thinking about siphoning gas you should take out a 4 sale sign, stick it on your fx and go buy i cheaper vehicle.

Siphoning gas from your brother's car to save a few bucks when you own an FX is ridiculous. Besides, won't he need the gas when he wants to drive his car?

Be a man, get your own gas.

Re: How to Siphon/transfer gas from one car to another

first off thanks for all your responses those who tried to explain siphoning and the tips with siphoning for a first time.

second of all thanks for all those who told me to sell my FX, i will take it into consideration. All i asked was a simple question, i was not asking for someone to judge my financial situation when they do not even know me. (and FYI i am a 18 year old with a job that pays $8/hr and 8 hours a week. I'm not about to spend all this on gas).

my parents buy my gas, i CANT afford my own gas as all of the money from my job went into textbooks for college, whatever. Im not ashamed of my parents buying my gas, as it is their decision and they've blessed me with it. HOWEVER since my brother is not planning to use his car much, and since him and my parents are on vacation, he is just trying to do me a favor and offer me his gas. Worse comes to worse, then i will use my own money to buy gas, but when there is free gas lying around, why would i not take up the offer?

Yes i drive a fx, and yes i can't afford my own gas. end of discussion

back on topic:

i think im just going to stick with what arya said and drive my brother's car for the meantime. However aiya's idea sounded very... very... tempting
